Hi:
This is another item of my neighbor's deceased brother property:
1. top of barrel-"Hopkins and Allen Firearms Co. Norwich, Conn. USA Pat'd Aug 21, 1906
2. top strap- "SAFETY POLICE"
3. bottom of grip strap- "E5889
4. face of cylinder-"889"
5. face of extractor-"89"
This is a breaktop seven shot .22 caliber revolver.
bore and chambers appeat good w/ no pitting
the finish is either devoid of bluing or was nickeled.
grips are wood and appear original.

What caliber is that contraption? Bill Goforth was writing a book on H&A when he passed away I think it's been completed but I dont' know the title or publisher.

H&A made a lot of different revolver models.
None of their commercial firearms are any later than about 1912/13.
That's about when they decided they'd stop making everything and take on the contract to make Mauser rifles,,a contract for Belgium.
They lost their shirts in that idea and went bankrupt about 1916.
The US Gov't took over the plant and set Marlin up in there to make BAR's for the rest of the War.

Anyway,,I'd take a guess at value around $100/$150. Being a 22RF and a nice bore & chambers and if the action functions properly. The grips are original style and should be #'d on the inside to the gun.
I wouldn't shoot H/S ammo in it,,but that's just me.

Mostly you find the 32's around and they don't bring as much.

Check the closed auctions for sold prices to get an idea. Mine are just a guess from what I've seen.
I sold a 32 H&A top break with the same style grip a few years back and a shorter Bbl for $85. It had about 60% nickel finish.

Hopkins & Allen manufactured the Merwin & Hulbert revolvers,,so they did make some nice stuff and knew how to mfg quality well machined and fitted products.
