value change for parts?

Found a 19-3 in nickel and it is in good shape with no box or docs but I has original black plastic grips and a standard trigger and hammer. What value difference is usually related to different parts? I've been looking for values and have seen that 19-3 in 4" nickel with rosewood and target hammer and trigger is usually around $600 but what does it take away not having all of the nicer parts but still in good shape?

My opinion of the difference is maybe $20 - $30 for the grips depending on how nice they were, and about the same for Target trigger & Hammer. About $50 - $60 overall.

The grips are in decent shape. Non target hammer/trigger and he's wanting $550. Seems kinda high to me or am I way off on my estimate?

I never saw a Model 19 with "original black plastic grips."

On a 4" gun, I would prefer standard hammer and trigger for actual shooting, even though 3Ts adds to resale value.

Can't help on a dollar number, everybody's crazy now anyhow.

That 19-3 almost certainly came wearing target stocks. It seems not that long ago that I picked up a nice set of targets at just about every gun show I went to for $5 to $10. That was because just about everybody and their brother replaced their targets with rubbers. Now nice targets are fetching $50 to $75.

The service trigger is preferable for firing DA so they were standard on 4” 19s. A target trigger and target hammer will likely set you back $50 each. That’s not to say that you should expect a 19 with a service trigger and standard hammer to sell for $100 less but it is a suggestion to buy a 19 that already has the a target trigger and hammer if you want those features.

Yeah the target trigger/hammer isn't a huge deal. I'm more worried about being stuck paying $75 for grips later on to get this thing looking good (back to normal). Hard decision here Been trying to find either a 357 or 44 mag for a while now and the itch is getting really hard to ignore

Those old Pachmayr grips did not come on that model 19 from the factory. Many model 19's came with regular hammer and trigger. I would say $150 discount off asking price.

these days nice original wood target grips are not overpriced at $75. that gun is certainly usable with the goodyear grips that are on it. mag loads will have less felt recoil than wood too.

if you are going to use that gun for carrying and shooting in real situations I wouldn't want the target stocks. I would go with magnas and grip adaptor or some rubber grip that feels good to you. if on the on the other hand you are wanting to make it as it was delivered originally then try and get the price down based on the grip deal. well on second thought use the grip problem for a better price regardless of what you want to do with it. those black things are horrid.

Pachmayr Presentation grips. Not five bucks, but not expensive either. I tried them on a 10-5 and think I'm going to put the magnas back on.

When I found my excellent 34-1 in a pawnshop
several years ago it had the pachs. Those nasty
looking grips appeared to be trying to eat the gun, they
were that obnoxious looking. It may have worked
to my advantage because that "steal"
of a gun sat in that shop nearly two weeks
before I found it. I consider it one of my best
finds ever.

For the price they are asking you will be able to find a more "original" 19. I would look around more or ask them to come down in price. 2 years ago I bought a NIB 19-3 with all tools,box, everything for $550. They are out there.
