Welcome to the forum. If you post a couple of pictures and what they are asking it will help us. Also, go to gun broker and look at completed auctions for these two.

We would need that dash number and pictures on the Model 66 like Don said and I would guess it's between $400 and $500 if it's in excellent condition and is a pinned and recessed model. If it has the box paperwork and tools it would be worth $50 more. If it's not a pinned and recessed version it would be worth about a $100 less to me.

Values on the 3"model 66.

Welcome to the forum cudaman. You have a name?

The values on the 3"model 66s have gone up steadily in the past couple of years. They were always limited runs for either Lew Horton or R.S.R. and as such have always been somewhat scarce.

The 3"66 started in 1985 with the -2 ,and continued to be produced through the lock years of 2002 and up until the 66 was discontinued.

ANY 3" model 66 in decent condition will bring a minimum of $500.

A new in box, with all the stuff ,like it was shipped would bring a substantial amount, especially at auction where 2 persons were motivated for it.

Fair market value today is $700. to $900.

I need a standard model 66-4 3" to fill a gap in my little collection.

For a NIB 3" 66-2, I would expect to pay the $850 to $900 previously mentioned.

The 66-2 appears to me, to be the most sought after version of the 3" 66's. Regards 18DAI.

I guess I'm surprised at the recent price qoutes but I certainly wouldn't argue with you guys as that revolver isn't one I usually buy except for the model 66 no dash I have with 4 inch barrel that is a shooter. I paid $725 for a 5 inch unfired Model 27-2 with presentation case, paperwork and tools so that is also part of the surprise to me as well.

CS-1

Didn't see a reply to the CS-1 question but they regularly sell in the $800-$850 range. Mint as described, maybe a little more.

Easily $850 for NIB 66-2 3inch especially if it was the Ashland run.

The Model 66-2 3 incher is most in demand/priciest because it was the first production 3 inch M-66.

There were no factory-made 3 inch M-66's that were P&R.

agreed buff and mike..hey mike,on these 66-2 3 inch guns that came in from collector ,how do i know if it was a ashland run gun??

Steve - I don't know if you have the book or not (I'm going to assume you don't) but it is very helpful for the info you desire.
3" Ashland guns were 5000 quantity in 1985 with "ALU" prefix serial number.

Hi twomoons,

IMHO being the "first" of the 3" 66's adds to the desire for that particular model, the 66-2. The 66-3 is free of cost cutting measures and includes the beefed up yoke, making it desireable as well.

MIM did not rear it's ugly head until the 3" 66-5. Although there are a couple of folks on this board who claim MIM triggers on their 3" 66-4's.

An easy visual cue is a hammer mounted firing pin. No MIM hammers have firing pins on them, only forged hammers have them. Regards 18DAI.
