value of a 4” 686 no dash

Seems high but I imagine Mass is a high price market. I don't think there's anything special about the no dash guns but I don't collect L frames.

The market for the 940 is all over the place. 9mm revolver is a niche market. It might sell tomorrow, it might sit in the case for a year. I don't see even up happening.

Would my LNIB 940 no dash with orig grips and box be an equal trade?

LGS buy at wholesale, sell at retail. Just watch Pawn Stars. They will offer 50% of what they think they can sell it for. They are in business to make money.

Is this a"target of opportunity" or something you've been looking for? Is a "no dash" what you want or will any L frame fill the bill? You a "lockor no lock" guy? All these make a difference in price some more than others. What the shop has in it....thats their business& will make a difference in their negoations but not what you value the piece at unless they over paid for it(not likley) good luck!

Does it have the M stamp.

The GB was a good deal, not in really high condition but these guns are in high demand. I have been looking for a high condition 4" but they command high prices and go quickly, so it is the one barrel length I don't have in 586 or 686.

That dealer knows the gun won't sit long which is a consideration for the business as well. The time value of money. I would bet he did not give more than 500 and probably less depending on the seller.

need some schooling...whats the "M" stamp mean?

The shop is notoriously high on all their stuff. I’m not looking it is merely a case where I once had one and regretted selling it ever since. Definitely a “no lock” kinda guy.
Will try to get back to the shop today……

I bought a 686 no dash 4" last fall for around $750 from my local LGS in Minnesota. I'd pass on that deal. Another will come up.

If you want it and can afford it........

...go for it. It's a tad steep for me, BUT when I bought mine, I was looking hard for one and would have paid a little higher price to get what I wanted and I found a beauty. I've never regretted buying it. It will probably be the last of my guns to go when I'm ready to back off, but my son will probably end up with it.

I agree. It’s a bit steep, but if it’s within your means… I doubt in a few months that you’ll regret getting it. I’ve “overpaid” for a handful of my S&W revolvers that I REALLY wanted the last few years. And I don’t have a regret at all. I now have them. As people have said on this forum: “You didn’t pay too much, you just bought a little early”. Up to you and your budget, but a 686 4” ND is a fine revolver.
