Trying to determine the current market value of a 13-1.

Blueing is brilliant save for a hint of holster wear at the very tip of the barrel, a spot of wear at the crane, and of course a faint turn line. No scratches, abrasions, rust, freckles, thinning or marring anywhere. The finish is original.

Times perfectly; forcing cone is mint; barely a line of flame cutting; barrel's bright and clean with excellent rifling; cylinder chambers smooth; headspace, cone-to-barrel gap and endshake are all well within spec; screws are perfect.

No box, paperwork or tools.

Grips are original, numbered to the gun; they're a little faded and have a small divot, but checkering is crisp.

Pinned and recessed, of course, and basically a gorgeous piece -- condition, I'd say, is NRA very good to excellent, nearing excellent.

Thoughts on the value?

Looks to be a good purchase -- I wonder if it's condition is comparable to the one I described?

So many variables in price -- especially geography, research done by buyer and seller, and disposition of both parties. The purchase price in the linked thread, I'm guessing, is well below the current average if the piece is in near-excellent condition.

That is an outrageously good price, but probably not a realistic for the average buyer. Just by comparison, Buds is having no problem selling beat up Aussie police turn in model 10s for $269 plus a local ffl transfer fee, so $325 OTD is an incredible price for a model 13. I think the previous poster hit the nail on the head with the $400-$450 quote. You can also look at the completed listings on Gunbroker to get an idea of the fair market value.

hapworth,

is this model 13-1 a 3 or 4 inch barrel. $450 is an ok price for a 4 inch but, a 3 inch will bring $600+

Buds appears to have finally sold all their 10's

Ha! What a thing to forget to mention: it's a 4" heavy barrel.

I think $450 is about right, but I see them fetching more in some cases (not counting the crazy prices some sellers are trying to auction them for).

As many of the similar Model 10s as there are on the market, there seems to be an inverse number of Model 13s available, and although the Model 19 is supposedly more sought after for the adjustable sights, there seems to be a glut of them available compared to Model 13s, too, which seems to be driving the price for the latter up.

I might go as high as valuing it at $500 currently, but I know some will scoff; that's about average for what I'm seeing comparable Model 19s selling for, and they seem much more plentiful.

As I stated in my post, he wanted $400 a week ago. It was in a pawn shop and they don't like for things to sit long. I just got lucky and it was still there when I went back a week later and got it for the $325!
