Hi Everyone:
This one does not have any property marks but is in 90% condition or better. All numbers match, has original stocks. It has the "flaming bomb" type of proof marks on underside of barrel and butt next to serial numbers. Also a small "P" mark up by the hammer on the frame. Anyone know what the "P" stands for and also what a price would be for this? Thanks for any input. c good

The P mark stands for Proof. It was applied to revolvers at their final inspection. Charlie Pate's book on "US Handguns of WW2" gives you the details. I assume your gun is a .38S&W Special caliber and has a 4 inch barrel & lanyard swivel on the butt. If so, It could be either a military issued gun or one of the Defense Supply Commissiom guns sent to defense plants and WW2 era Police Dep'ts. Values of these guns are rising, here in So. Calif. they run about $375 to $500 depending on where they were shipped - military or civilian. Still a bargain, IMHO. Sexy destinations like the USMC or OSS or a Movie Studio can add about 25% . Ed.
