I'm looking at a model 19-6 4" barrel 357mag revolver in blue. It has minor freckling which I think a good polishing would remove it. It also has some minor scratches. I'm trying to come with an offer on it? I know it's hard to give an estimate without pics. I just need a ball park figure for a haggling starting point. If he moves on his $700 asking price then we can deal if not I walk. How low should I go? She's not that bad of a looker even with a 4" barrel.
I have nothing in a k frame that's in 357mag.

Thanks ahead of time. You guys know the old k frame prices better than I do.

I think you could get a -3 or -4 for that money in very nice condition. I'm guessing that's $200 too high.

I just bought a 4" blued 19-5 with box, papers, and tools for $639 on Gunbroker. I don't have it yet, but it is supposed to be "mint". I can't see any issues in the photos.

I think I got a really good deal, but it's a point of reference. The newer guns that aren't pinned and recessed don't bring quite as much.

I wouldn't go over the very low $500's for sure, unless that particular gun really tickles you. Paid $600 for my 19-3 just a few weeks ago.

I still see them in better shape than you describe for $550-$600, and less than $525 for that condition. Even on Gunbroker I think you could beat that. I got a minty 66 with all the original box and accessories for about $650 on Gunbroker.

I agree with all above. What you describe sounds like a retired LE duty weapon. I would not go above $500ish for it. Do some looking on GB and you'll quickly get the idea.

Good luck with it.

I'll agree you're looking at a $500 gun. You hear about the high auction prices, you don't hear much about the reasonable deals on auction (there are plenty if you are patient). I bot a 4" 19-6 last week on auction described as 98.5 (looks new w/ a turn line) for $404+$25 ship. W/ rubbers, which suits me fine as it will get Spegelized. Not a fluke-- bot a similar 4" 19-4 a couple days prior also on auction for $410+$25.
