If in the wrong sub forum you may severely chastise me with the hopes I learn a lesson......

I've reached the point in life that I need to think about letting some things go to another home. I have 3 S&W revolvers that I have researched but find the results more than a little fuzzy....

1. 696 no dash, box (plastic) and all papers and lock. Round count is going to be less than 200 and I have 300 pieces of brass, some of which is virgin. It wears Goodyear's but I do have a nice pair of RB target stocks. 99% or better, $$??

2. 27-2, 5" TT, TH, WO rear, target stocks, Blue, plastic box NOT numbered to the gun, 99% or better, $$??

3. 28-2, 6", TT, TH, WO, target stocks, 99%, $$??

Any help with values would be appreciated...... Thank you..

You might check out Gunbroker and do a few searches

696 ?

27-2 5” I just paid $1250 for mine in pres case. I can’t see a scratch or wear in the photos but haven’t seen it in person yet
Looks super clean in pics though.
There ones online around $2500 but they’re still up there. I’m a total newbie but range is going to be $1k for a great deal and $1500 - 1750 depending on who’s buying.
I’ve been on every day Gunbroker the last 6 months. Studying values/condition. Seems there very wide and varied value number.

28-2 6” … 650 - 950?? Depends who’s bidding.
99%? 850?
I paid 800 for a great looking 4”.
Seems like the range though.

The 5” 27-2 seem to be the most sought after length.
$1500 would be a decent asking.
Although I’ve seen them in shops for $1950
Again, I’m a newbie but I’ve really been looking every day at this stuff for 6 months. I’m kinda none the wiser, but I thought 1250 for my clean 5” in case was a good deal.

I think m your best bet would be to get on guns international and Gunbroker every day for a couple of months.
You’ll see what asking “buy now” prices are, and what auctions hammer for.
Values seems to fluctuate a lot within a parameter
Re my previous comment… I doubt you’ll ever see a 27-2 5” go for $1k unless it’s in rough shooter condition.
99% I’d say 1350 to 1600.
Going by what I’ve seen in the last 6 months online.

I've "glanced at most of the auction sites and that is what's causing the value confusion. One has several in one range and another has a couple in a totally different price point. I guess I'll start watching instead of glancing.

Why nothing on the 696 no dash?? I would have thought it would be more desirable but I guess not....

I'll try to get photos posted today or tomorrow....

I’m a newbie and not familiar with the 696 model.
I’ve certainly watched the other models in the last 6 months.

The 696- need more info to value

The Model 696 no dash was only the first year od production (1996). The dash 1 came out in 1997 and changed to MIM trigger and hammer among other things.

The 696 was the first L Frame offering chambered for 44 Special. If you do have a no dash the original supplied grips were Uncle Mikes Combat rubbers. The blue plastic case and Master Trigger lock were first used in Fall of 1997.

When you get pics posted be sure to show the Model No. and also serial number in the yoke and butt if you can. Does the gun serial number match the plastic case number?

Assuming it is all original like you say it may have a value of $750 - $900 especially to reloaders as 44 Special ammo is just not alying around in LGS these days.

I apologize for the delay on the photos but my bad luck shipment arrived Wednesday and it seems to be the gift that keeps on giving because it hasn't let up yet.

As soon as I can get my head above water I'll post the photos...

I traded into a 696, complete with box, etc. The piece I traded was valued between $500-700, I thought I got the better in the deal. I was told I would have no trouble getting $750 cash from at least two friends of mine if I ever decide to part ways with it. I prefer trading and am holding out for the right deal.
