Has anyone on the forum ever used this cold blue? I met an old gunsmith at the Louisville Gun Show that says its the best stuff he has ever used and gives an "origional" finish. He often uses it to cover dings and scratches in the finish. Says it blends in really well. Its produced by Miracle Products International. I have never seen any of this stuff, but could really use a bottle of it. What say ye!

I met the son of the inventor many years ago, I have used it with satisfaction. While it covers and blends well, the gives an original finish claim may be a bit of a stretch.

An excellent product that seems to work especially well on older steel types. A bonus is that it has little, if any, odor.

Van's has worked well for me. Got my first bottle as a result of a demo I saw at a gun show. The guy took a nicely blued barrel, worked a strip down to bare metal with fine steel wool, used some of their degreaser, then applied the Van's. When he was done you could not see where the are strip had been because it blended so well. The color is a dark blue-black, about the same as the large frame S&Ws.

Next time I run across it, I'll pick up a bottle to try. Don't mean to sound too negative, but from what I have experienced from the other cold blues on the market, I would be shocked if it was all that much different. That said, I will keep an open mind and give it a fair shot. Thanks.

I have a bottle of Van's I bought at a local gun shop a few years ago when I asked them for the best cold blue for touch up. I have a M17 that has had the cylinder face bluing worn off from over cleaning the leading. It does a good job of bringing the blue back, but not quite the same as factory.
