I see my "edit" did not post, this particular Crossfire is a 2005, automatic, 3.2L V-6 engine. My Internet connection here is poor on a good day, the clouds and rain are complicating things.

The Crossfire is a child born when Daimler and Chrysler had their collaboration. It's a solid car with a Mercedes-Benz SLK Patform and drivetrain. Means it's reliable and you can go to a MB Dealer for Maintenance/Repair.
It has the 1st gen M112 3.2 V6 engine in with ~215hp. I had a W124 Coupe with the M112 Inline 6 engine which was the one getting replaced by the M112.
The Crossfire is a solid car with good performance if equipped with good tires. The only thing you have to consider is a clean service book as well as the relatively old technic. The M112 came into the market in 1998.

Certainly not, I need better gas mileage than my Isuzu Rodeo Sport gets. It might be cheaper to have new paint and a top put on my kid's old 1995 Mustang convertible

With a zippy, zoom, zoom car like that what will your gas mileage be?? How about those speeding tickets, you will appear to be speeding even stopped.
They are racy looking! Those winding Mt roads will be a blast!!

Uh, the 2005 Crossfire with 3.2L V-6 gets an average of 15mpg city and 23mpg highway. You did say you were getting this for better mileage right?

It's a V6 from '98 with automatic transmission, front engine and RWD... what do you expect?

I was out and after returning home, read this post. What amazes me is that on my way back home, I was following a Crossfire (which I haven't seen in quite some time) while Stevie Ray Vaughn's song Crossfire was on the radio! Three Crossfires in 15 minutes - Wierd!

Seems like everyone I know who has owned Chryslers over the last 10 years all have the same thing to say, they have more miles on them going up and down on the lift then they do going forward.

When I was up visiting his neck of the woods there was a LEO every 100 yards and speed limits change every 50 yards.

The LEO every 100 yards is a public service for gearheads.
one can determine quarter mile and 0 - 60 times by the times on the tickets.

Great cars, based on the SLK. I have to agree about snow however; not much ground clearance and not a lot of room for chains either. Even the SLK 230 I had was enough to get me in trouble, they are too much fun!
A young woman I know had one. She liked it, but as I recall it was maintenance intensive. She got rid of it when it came time to replace all four tires. I forget how much she said it was going to cost, but it was in the low four figure range.
As I recall, the shells were built by Mercedes, but final assembly took place on the Chrysler line so they wouldn't be considered imports. Don't quote me on that, I might be thinking of some other car.
I'd be leery of any of the vehicles made during the Diamler Chrysler days as Chrysler dealers might not be interested in servicing them these days.
