Came home last night and the first words out of my wife were the dreaded “we have a problem”. She found a lump on our little shih tzu dog’s chest. Maybe 1/2” around. It’s soft and feels like fat and is movable to a point and does not seem attached to the underlying muscle. We can’t get her to a vet until next week. I work and my wife is taking care of her disabled mother. I am hoping it’s simply a lipoma. We are both worried, my wife to the point of crying. She is very emotional. We love this little dog. Dog people will understand. Any experience with this? Hopefully we have a pro here than can ease our minds until we get her looked at.
Thank You.
Here’s a pic of our little one Ellie as a pup.

My folk's dog is a golden retriever, which have high incidence of cancer. They were worried when they found a lump on his chest. It turned out to be a fatty whatever it's called, and not a problem.

Have a shih tzu that will be 14 years old in May. He has had one of those on his belly for 3-4 years. Fat. Vet said not to worry about it.

Get your little dog to the veterinarian as soon as possible. Get it checked out. The doctor may want to do a needle biopsy. Even if it's benign, I'd consider getting it removed. Fatty tumor or not, you don't want it continuing to grow.

My dog has several on her belly for 5 years now. My Vet says unless they start bothering her to leave them alone. Not to mention she's almost 14 and I'm not sure about surgery at her age. They pretty well know after feeling them what's going on with them.
