That is a total of 7 viable alternatives for self-defense for the .32 H&R mag...roughly equivalent to a 38 special +P in a few of these loads (Buffalo Bore, Double Tap, and Georgia Arms) in terms of energy deposit.

1) Buffalo Bore (100 grain Hornady XTP, 1300 fps, 375 ft-lbs --4 inch barrel)

This one is great because it produces the same 370 ft-lbs of muzzle energy as the Federal Hydrashock low recoil .327 Federal Mag 85 grain round.

HEAVY 32 H&R MAG. +P

2) Double Tap (1300 fps, 228 ft-lbs---3 inch barrel)

DoubleTap Ammunition

This Barnes bullet expands to .55 inches in ballistic gelatin

3) Georgia Arms (100 grain XTP , 1000 fps out of a 2" barrel)

Georgia Arms - .32 H&R MAG

4) BVAC ( 85 grain hornady xtp 1170 fps, 258 ft-lbs---4 inch barrel)

Ballistics

5) The Hunting Shack (100 gr Speer JHP 1150 fps, 294 ft/lbs--4 in barrel, 85 grain XTP 1167 fps, 257 ft-lbs---4 in barrel)

6) Federal Premium (85 grain XTP, 1120 fps, 237 ft/lbs----4 inch barrel)

7) Black Hills Ammunition (1100 fps, 228 ft-lbs---4 in barrel)
