Hello Pilgrim:

Here I am. With my collaborator LWCmdr45 we maintain the Victory Model Database, which includes the pre-Victory guns also.

The Database looks for complete serial number, barrel length, caliber, finish, stock type, markings on the butt and left top strap, factory letter information, any post-factory markings, and any post-factory modifications. This data is kept on a confidential basis. We do not include any information about the contributor as that info is not relevant to our study.

With this data the Database is able to provide collectors with pretty good estimates on when revolvers were shipped from the factory and sometimes where. The Database also provides information on a variety of subjects, such as the serial range of guns that are reported to have New Zealand property markings or what range the South African pre-Victory guns fall into. Someday we expect to publish articles for collectors on the Victory Model that will draw upon the information contained in the Database.

Your contribution of data would be welcome, and I encourage others with Victory Model data to pass it along to us for inclusion in the Database. Factory letter information is especially valuable.

Please accept my thanks in advance.

Regards,
Charlie Flick

Hi Pilgrim:

Thanks for your email providing us with details on your Victory. From the Database we can estimate that your Victory was likely shipped from the factory in the May-June, 1944 time frame. I will also say that the serial numbers in the mid-500,000 range seem to skip around quite a bit. There are numbers that are relatively close to yours which shipped as early as January, 1944 and as late as September, 1944. As you know the factory did not ship in strict consecutive serial number order.

I believe that your Victory was likely shipped to the Hartford Ordnance Depot in Springfield, Mass.

If you get around to ordering a factory letter I hope that you will get back to us with the particulars. Thanks again for your data contribution. I hope this information has been helpful to you.

Regards,
Charlie Flick

You have mail on another Victory.

I bought it up North in New Hampshire at Riley's Sport Shop about 7 years ago, back when they still had good prices.

Hope it helps you out.
Best,
Charles

Hi Charles:

Thanks for your email providing details on your Victory in the V591XXX range. From our Victory Database we can estimate for you that your revolver was likely shipped from the factory in the May, 1944 time frame. I think chances are good that it would letter as going to a Navy destination.

Hope this helps you. Thanks again for your data contribution.

Regards,
Charlie Flick
