I AMA member of the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) which is like a smaller NRA for the state. My latest email had some great news in it. Here is part of the email:

Killed were bills to require background checks on private sales, to ban guns in libraries, to reduce the number of courses that qualify for getting a CHP, an assault weapon ban, and a ban on guns in vehicles on school property.

Having great news like that is a good start for keeping our gun rights. I thought I would share this because if it can take place on a state level, then we can do it on a national level.

That's excellent. Spent a number of years in VA when my Dad was in the service and 8 yrs there while I was on active duty. Glad to see VA on the right side of the 2nd Amendment. Don

How about this Jack-Wagon!!!!!!Del. Joe Morrissey, D-Highland Springs, VA

A Richmond-area lawmaker brandished an AK-47 on the floor of the Virginia House of Delegates on Thursday in a wild stunt aimed at rallying support for tougher gun laws.

As a Virginia resident I'm stunned at this stupid and reckless behavior. I have never, ever done this before, and as a responsible gun owner I am completely offended by this Knuckleheads' actions.

I'm planning on writing a letter to Gov McDonnell recommending that Joe Morrissey's actions be investigated. This inept "law-maker" is attempting to re-brand responsible gun owners to look as crazy as he is.

Disgusting!!!!! And I'm pissed!!!!

Regards, Mike

Well....Aren't the facilities that these chambers are located in considered to be either a courthouse or a federal facility? If so, I do believe that he would be considered to be breaking the law for brings such a weapon into the building.....I could be wrong. I'm sure he won't be in any trouble though...just like Gregory wasn't for the magazine in DC.

Del. Joe Morrissey

The lawmaker with the AK is a former prominent Richmond attorney with a, shall we say, colorful past.

If I remember correctly, he got into several fistfights when he was a prosecutor in Richmond. He lost his law license after a number of reprimands. Went to Ireland and taught law at some University.
Here's a link to an article on his troubles.

Came back to Virginia and got elected a Delegate.

Of a inner city district that always elects a Democrat. He is reliably on the left of every issue and considering his hot temper and formerly erratic behavior patterns I would have been a wee bit nervous had I been in the chamber.

I think a lot of folks don't consider him a serious person, not even those on the left.

Exactly, like most of the gun-grabbers, he is a hypocritical scumbag - not to mention one with a criminal past!

Also, you can't ban guns in Virginia. Just won't happen, that would be like taking away everybody's food supply here. :D

Its pretty disgusting just to see what some of the people we have put our trust in to represent us and that took an Oath to protect the Constitution can do. I wonder what ever happened to honesty, dependibility, ethics, and the courage to stand up for what is right and good about this country?
We pay them a good salery and they get a decent retirement...all we ask is for proper representation and keep the Oath they swore to defend. We need to either take a hard look at who we vote for or run our own canidate that will remember the oath they took and will represent the people and understand history enough to know why the second amendment is so important. Am I missing something ....??????
It is good to see that many in Law Enforcement understand the Oath they took and many in the Military understand the Oath and will not follow orders to try to remove our rights (neither would I)
I dread what will happen if this goes too far and the government actually thinks they can take our rights away......it would damage this country and many Americans are not going to give up their freedom for anyone or any government. I never thought I would see the day that we had to cross the line and defend our God Given Rights so the next generation can enjoy the same freedom that all of us have enjoyed.
If some of the gun grabbers could only see what happens in a country (like Mauli) where terrorist have moved in and taken controll of the people....and see what happens to unarmed and defenceless people...they would change their mind in a hurry. We can never stop crime...but we can combat it and limit the damage they can do....but making a population defenceless carries danger and loss of life far beyond the imagination of people that have lived in a sheltered environment like the US for most of their life. Read history...see what happened in Cambodia or Sierra Leone and see the brutality that has happened and happens on a daily basis in some parts of the world. Its an eye opener and it could happen here if we did not have the means to defend ourself.

We had more victory in Virginia as this newsletter from the Virginia Citizens Defense League shows:

In other news, HB 1604, Delegate Farrell's bill to allow locksmiths and electronic alarm employees to carry a concealed handgun for their own protection, assuming they have a CHP (VCDL STRONGLY SUPPORT), passed easily out of the House and heads to the Senate.

SB 1335, Senator Obenshain's bill to protect a person's CHP information from dissemination by a Circuit Court Clerk if that person has a protection order out against another person (VCDL STRONGLY SUPPORT), passed out of the Courts of Justice committee by a 14 to 1 vote and heads to the Senate Floor.
