This is one of the coolest videos I've seen lately...better than special effects because it's real.

An eagle is released from the highest manmade tower in the world with a camera strapped to his back. Watch his head move as he circles, searching for his trainer on the ground. Then, watch at the end as he sees him and folds his wings to dive to the outstretched arm of his trainer. Notice how high the eagle is when he sees the man on the ground.

Imagine what an eagle's vision must be like...and imagine what it must feel like to be able to do something like this.

That's pretty cool, thanks for the ride.

I forgot to mention the tower is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and stands 2,722 feet tall.

When you watch the video as it ends and see the little patch of green where the trainer is standing, the eagle is a couple of thousand feet up, and people look like ants to the camera.

I've read that an eagle's vision is comparable to a man looking through 8X or 10X binoculars. I'm thinking it might be better than that, though. Think of seeing a small prey animal like a woodchuck or gopher or something from that high up and visually tracking it as it runs for cover. Humans can't do it without vision aids, but raptors like this eagle do it every day.

We really don't have to look very hard to see the wonders of Nature, do we? They're all around us if we just take the time to look. Oh, and a lot of times, they're looking back at us, too.

Cooool.........they will soon be deploying with our Special Forces ......

"We don't need no stinkin drones!"

Want to know what I think? I'll tell you anyway. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if raptors haven't been trained, had mini-cams attached to them, and been doing surveillance of enemy strongholds and forces. Face it, we have the technology already.

Think about it. They're mostly silent. They use zero fuel, except some raw meat (left over from the mess hall). They look completely natural in their surroundings. Falconry has been popular since before the Middle Ages. And people love to watch hawks and eagles soar above them. So while the doofus bad guys are ogling the big bird, they're having their photos made and they're being identified with all sorts of mug shots and facial enhancement software. And the birds will return home, that's been proven for hundred of years.

Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised at all.
