Hello

I have a few older .38 Special Ammunition boxes lurking about. Does anyone have any clues as to the age of these boxes?
Thanks
Mark

U.S. Military Issue .38 Special Ammunition Box. I got this box with two live cartridges inside, both were head-stamped 1956, so I assume this box is from the same time.

Box for Winchester made .38 S&W Cartridges. Does anyone have any idea how old this box is?
Thanks

Seems to be more Q's than A's... lol

I have the same Western X and Remington boxes as the OP. I think they are from the late 50's....

Mark:
The first pic, top box is a 1962 style with the first child warning label on the end. Right before that, the boxes were without warnings.
The middle box has a general style that covered several decades, from the 30s thru the 50s. If it has an Olin Mathieson callout on the bottom, it is mid to late 50s. There were some subtle nuances on the top printing that might give its age away but I haven't studied them enough to know. The positioning of the Lubaloy might be one of them.
The bottom box in the first pic (Remington) is postwar as there is no R prefix on the code. Could be thru the 50s.

The blue Winchester box in the 3rd pic is their 1928 style box.

Hello

Thanks for the info and responses. I'll check out the rear of the Western box later tonight.

I just checked out the Western box once more. It does have "Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation" on the rear bottom portion, so it looks like mid-late 1950's. Thanks for the information.
Thanks

Hello

I found these today at a gun show for $1, just the empty box. They were for 148 grain wadcutter rounds.
Thanks

Hello

Here are the latest finds. The empty brass is headstamped "REM-UMC", so I think that means at least pre-1960ish?
Thanks
