About a week ago, I purchased two M&P 45c FDE pistols and last night I visited to range for their debut. Nice handguns, they shoot well. On the way out the door, I found a Viridian C5L-R laser sight, new in the box, priced at 139.00. I had shopped this device some time ago and recalled a much higher retail price, and the clerk confirmed the price and I took one home.
This is a Picatinny rail mounted device with both a laser sight and tactical flashlight. It has dual left and right side on/off switches, five options for illumination, and two colors of laser, red and green. It comes with one battery, and three sets of mounts.
The choices are laser on with steady beam, laser on with flashing beam, laser on with white tactical light, laser on with white tactical light flashing, and finally, both on with both flashing. Choices can be made on the fly, and a duty style holster that automatically restores your choice after drawing from the holster, is also available.
That's called the "ECR" advantage, employing a "TACLOC" holster offered as an option. I can see the value to law enforcement, however, I would use it only to train others in developing muscle memory. I would not encourage its use as a duty tool.
Dry fire around the ranch is awesome. Highly visible in both sun up and sun down testing, the laser is the brightest I have seen. The flashlight is not as superior but it will do until I can employ my MagLight. Overall, this is a great option to have at your fingertips, worthy of consideration.
Y'all be safe.
