Visit by the Sheriffs Dept and freaked out my wife

I am sitting in the house having some coffee my wife had gone to the Post Office.
There is a siren warble out at my gate. I thought it was my neighbor test driving our brush truck(needed brakes fixed). It wasn't it was a Sheriffs Dept SUV with two deputies.

They needed directions and a phone for there is no radio(fire & police) available. I let them in, or rather they followed me into the house and than the office to get the phone. I realized that they weren't going to let me out of their sight, because I had my M-66 on my belt.

Well they made their call, and we are walking out to the gate. Here comes my wife, so I put my hands over my head. I didn't think she could see me from 1/8 mile away.

She flies down the drive and one of the deputies says "Ya wanna get in the back of the SUV for fun.

But my wife was already at the inside gate wondering what the heck I had done. We are all laughing except my wife. She is still a little freaked out.

My first thought was, its a good thing for you that she wasn't carrying. The second thought was she wanted to catch up and find out how long you would be gone.

I think my wife would have been ready to bail me out. Or whatever.

She would have approached in a businesslike manner and figured out what needed to be done.

She's done lots of criminal defense and prosecution. She even taught the law class at the local big city police academy one year.

So the teasing wouldn't have worked, darn it.

But I'll keep her anyway.

lol pulled something similar on the wife for april fools, a former friend of mine pulled a really dirty stunt and I told her if I saw him again...., well I had to go into town to help a friend move and took longer than she had expected, well when she called I had my buddy say i was arrested for breaking his nose which was very believable for me, well she got very scared because fighting here is a felony, and drove to the sherriffs dept to get more info only to find out I wasn't there, when she got home she found me in the chair in hysterical laughter, really mean but I still cringe at that beating
