I'm contemplating buying the Voquartsen barrel for my Victory but wondering if anyone has done a accuracy comparison test between the stock barrel and the Volquartsen barrel? Before I spend $300 I would like to see if it will be more accurate since that is what I'm mainly concerned with.

Check out the numerous threads on the forum within the last week. I read one that talked about that. The one I remember said he had nothing to compare against as he switched the barrel right away.

That was me. I can't say it is anymore accurate but I really like the look and the forward ported comp on it. I do know that people who bought the carbon fiber barrels like the weight reduction. My barrel added weight as it is longer but putting the MatchDot II on the pistol balanced the weight.

The barrel will shoot one hole groups at 20yds off a rest.

What target are you shooting at 20 yds?

I print my own out as they have a 7/8" 10 ring and a 7/16" X ring. I suspect they are not to 100% scale as I am betting the X ring should be 1/2". There is 5 per sheet. It says National Shooting Sports Foundation on the bottom. I like them as I can pick a red dot size the fits over the black, which is 2 1/4" the 8 ring.

Ha. I knew I had seen it somewhere.

First, The accuracy of the stock barrel on my 22 Victory is very good. I have both the Volquartsen barrels. The carbon fiber is for speed shooting steel to get fast transitions w/o over-swing. The fluted barrel is HEAVY and I will use it to see what kind of accuracy it can do. Bear in mind the trigger is not high accuracy light...more like 3 to 4#.

I received a email from Scott Volquartsen yesterday the trigger is in work at this time.

Have you compared the carbon fiber barrel with stock yet? I'm not sure which one I want. I do plate shooting at my club but I also like bulls eye shooting, but can't afford both.

No, I did not run special accuracy tests of the barrels. I put the carbon fiber on the gun to meet my primary use(shooting speed steel) and am not real interested in shooting groups. I can say the stock barrel was very accurate. I sighted in the gun at 20 yds. off a bag.

Both carbon fiber and stock barrels were equally accurate on my gun. Each barrel favored certain ammo over others. Both liked Blazer, IIRC. I just bought the VQ barrel for use with a can.

Here is an article that includes a comparison of the accuracy between the S&W barrel and the VQ where the result was negligible (on average - some better, some worse, some about the same).

We Shoot the New Smith & Wesson Victory .22 LR Pistol - GunsAmerica Digest

I like the looks of the VQ fluted with the comp but I don't love that it adds 2 inches of length over the S&W barrel. I prefer a 5-ish inch barrel to a 7-ish inch one.

Thanks that's what I was looking for.

In addition to the fact that the barrel alone costs more than 2/3 of what I paid for the entire pistol with 2 magazines. BT Barnum call your office....
