You might want to try a military surplus forum in the semi auto rifle or cz section. I have heard good things about them. But they do have there own magazines and nothing else fits.

If your looking for a 7.62X39 right now they are about the cheapest you can find. I have 2 $500, one not on clearance, $400 for the other. They will only use VZ magazines but 5 is a good start. Some of the early CIA firearms had problems. I have heard of a very few lately with problems. I haven't been to the farm to shoot yet but don't expect any problems. PSA has the best deal right now as it comes with 5 magazines and they will cost you about $20 each you can wait until they have their free shipping which will save you about $17 shipping cost. They have a side folder which you will need to operate a lot to loosen up. Some like them better then the AK clone as they have a last shot bolt hold open and enclosed action. Safety takes a little getting use to. They have a milled receiver and are lighter then the AK clones, and striker fired. The best ones out there would be from CzechPoint, Inc but will cost you $1000. You can go to slickguns and then AK deals scroll down until you come to it and read the reviews. Ignore the "one guy" remarks as he has don't nothing but bad mouth CAI firearms. Yes they had problems but they can be fix. There is a forum "czfirearms" they should have all the information you need from the bugs to the fixes. Word of caution if you order from PSA be prepared to wait the full 14 days before they ship. If you want a good manual to read first, PM me and I will try to find the link to it. Also PSA hasn't been sending manuals for some reason but You can contact them and they may send you one. OBTW they don't have chrome lined barrels from CAI.

One thing I forgot the hand guard gets hot after shooting faster then the AK variant so you might want so gloves or look into the heat shield they tale about on the forum.

Excellent info GD..... I lucked out on mine. Picked up cheap compared to the $900 price tag on it. I have the VZ58 Sporter Tactical model from CZ-USA. Being from Ma, I'm limited with what I can purchase. I've seen the 58's for sale all over with great pricing with accessories included. Atlantic Firearms, Classic and others...

GD is right on about the forward handguard getting hot, 50 rds in.... and I was like daaaamn that babies warming up...
