Thought I might pick up some .380 auto ammo from WallyWorld today since they just got in a shipment of ammo, and I know .380 is near impossible to find right now, and they had 6 100 round boxes. I don't need .380 since I don't own one, but my friend could probably have used some. Nope. No can do. I don't have a .380 on my carry permit so the bastards that make the rules at WallyWorld won't let me buy that caliber. What a load of crap. So I bought two boxes of 100 9mm target ammo, and a box of Federal .22's. I'm still pissed off....... should have bought all the 9mm just to make a point.......

Jesus Christ...here we go again.

I bought 9mm ammo from Dick's in New York today...and they DID NOT check to see that I had a 9mm firearm on my permit. This is not a state law to my knowledge. I've bought ammo at my local Wal-Mart and, yes, they do need to see a permit...but they never looked for specific calibers. This must be something new.

Gimme a break...you're from freakin' Oregon for Chrissakes!

Don't even get me started about New York. You should see the load of gun control crap they have on the table for NY law-abiding citizens.
Micro-stamping, ammo restrictions, ammo registration and serial numbers, no .50 or above caliber guns, turn-in policy for existing over .50 caliber guns (for destruction I'd guess), State Police random checks of homes for proper storage of firearms and ammo, turn-in of non-conforming ammo to State Police for destruction, no passing guns down to your kids, no private sales of firearms, making it a crime for your wife or family member to use your gun in defense of their lives, and on and on and on........... useless politicians..... Shoo please tell me your kidding about most of those laws,,,the cops can come ck to see if you store the chit properly

I don't understand what the permit has to do with buying ammo. Do you have to have a permit to buy ammo in NY?? I have many guns, but only carry two...just tell them it's for your target pistol. Guess I have been spoiled living in Arizona...they just worry about double bagging my ammo so it doesn't spill on the floor....whenever I can find it to buy.

WallyWorld asks when you buy .22lr if it's for a pistol or a rifle. If you say rifle, you are good to go. If you say pistol, you have to show your permit and it must have a .22 on it. Absolute maddening stupidity ! What a bunch of Chinese crapolla pushing a-holes. I may have to stop shopping there and write someone and tell them Sam must be rolling over in his grave. He used to sell USA made stuff. And now the jerks that run that company have made it into ChinaMart, and have forced many domestic companies to fold. Case in point, my 3, yes 3, Black and Decker foreign made under cupboard can openers opened a total of two cans. Biggest pieces of crap I ever bought. Yet my tools I got from the Black and Decker/ DeWalt factory in Maryland 15 years ago all still run great, go figure. Okay, rant off, Shoo

Lee,

Yes, some stores ask to see your pistol permit in order to buy handgun ammo.

Here in AZ they don't list weapons on the CCW permits. You can carry a new gun everyday if you want. I qualified with a .357....now carry a 9mm or a .38 SPL.

Many of these crazy ideas have passed whatever they needed to pass and are on their way to the Senate for approval. I may just throw in the towel and say screw them all, sell all my ammo and guns, and then become one of the sheep for slaughter they want us all to be.....Shoo

Yup,

NYS lists every handgun on your permit...you can't take possesion of a new gun until your permit is amended to include the new gun.

Yep, G-Mac is correct. You pick out your gun and get a receipt. Then it's a trip to the County Clerk's office to amend your pistol permit. Then back to the dealer with your coupon for getting your new gun. Same deal with selling or trading one, you have to have it removed from your permit within a timely manner, another trip to the Clerk's office. Great isn't it ? Did I mention the one whole year it took to even get my permit ??? Shoo

You guys need to move! Plenty of room here in AZ. When buying a gun here, I just show my permit, pay the man, and take the gun home.

Come on down.....it's a DRY heat!!

Lee, got any of those nasty palmetto bugs?

Had to go to Google to find out what they are. No, haven't seen those around here. We do have an interesting variety of creatures, but nothing that really bothers me.

Getting back to topic....my local Wal-Mart has had empty ammo shelves for the last 4 weeks, plus a sign that limits purchases to 4 boxes. Wish I could find four boxes to buy......

Lee's right. You guys up in New York have been hasseled and restricted and regulated for so long in so many different ways that it would be a mind blowing experience to live in a Free State.

A permit to buy ammo, fer crying out loud. And, I can't buy ammo for something not on my carry permit? Why would I want a specific gun on my carry permit? What difference does it make? I guess it's tough getting ammo for the 475 Linebaugh with the 10 inch barrel, huh?

No, no palmetto bugs, just a dry, dry heat and the usual desert flora and fauna. It's the smell of freedom.

The ONLY store I was ever in that wanted to see my license to complete an ammo sale was over 20 years ago in NYC. I have never been asked to show a license nor have I had any problem purchasing pistol ammo since.

Yeah Shoo, walmart is a real joke on ammo around here also. My Dad has had his name down for two (yes, a whole TWO) boxes of 9mm for weeks. Walmart called him upon arrival of the ammo this past Monday. He told the man he would leave right away to pick up the two boxes. Dad IMMEDIATELY went out to to the store, which took approximately 7 minutes from the call to arrival. When he checked in at sporting goods they told him "sorry, they are all gone"

From what I am hearing, the same person is buying the whole pallet of ammo as soon as it is available for purchase. Some Walmarts have the box limitations, evidently ours do not. Then there it is that issue of an "IN"...
