I didn't know Walmart ever took orders for ammo. I just make it a habbit to swing by sporting good on our weekly stop and look at the near empty ammo cabinet. On the rare occasion that they have Federal bulk .22's or reasonable target 9mm, I hunt down someone with a key!

If it bothers anyone then maybe they should email them and tell them you will put on hold shopping there until you know if they will support people's 2nd Amendment rights, I have and won't shop there too many other stores that sell Chinese made products. They tried being like Target once before and it didn't work. Then again not many large stores sell firearms or equiptment anymore like Sears use to.

I spoke to WalMart and echoed the sentiments voiced here and then insisted that they stop the sale of new tires for cars...the rep. was baffled and asked my why...

I told him that many thousands of people every year die in car accidents and that surely a number of those car had tires that were purchased at WalMart.

"Even if it saves only one life it is well worth it isn't it?" Therefore quit selling tires, they go on cars and everyone knows cars kill people.....

What people have never understood is that Walmart and even Dicks Sporting Goods are really no friends to gun owners overall. Both have turned their back on them ever since the hysteria began over Newtown. Dick's of course struck first by stopping sales of all semi auto firearms and now Walmart. Both of these companies are good at doing one thing, driving little gun shops out of business. Since Walmart opened where I live, they knocked out a couple gun shops (both owners told me how many sales they lost when they opened and could not compete) and have hurt a few more. The only gun shops that have survived Walmart and Dicks are ones that sell more than those two offer, mainly handguns and reloading supplies. Any gun shop that just sold hunting rifles and gear was quickly buried. Now that Walmart and Dick's have shown their true colors, in some places people can't get what they want simply because the local gun shops are now gone.

This could be the straw that breaks the camels back for me as far as buying anything at walmart. I never shopped at dicks anyway.

Small town red state America is what made Walmart what it is today and now that they are a big time rich corporation they are turning their backs on us. As for me I am looking else where to do my shopping.

Walmart stopped selling ammo

I sent Walmart Corporate Headquarters an email this morning that they know longer would find me shopping in any of their stores.
I've never purchase any ammo from them but "did" purchase misc. item's and some groceries on a weekly basis.

From what I heard, Walmart is not placing orders to restock their stores at this point and time. They are waiting to see what happens with any possible ammo laws( think NO new laws) if any. They don't want to be sitting on anything they might not be able to sell in the near future.

Isn't this just kinda cheap bolstering on Walmarts part? To me this just screams PR stunt let me explain

Right now ammo sales are thought the roof manufactures cant make it as fast as people are buying it.

Places like Bass pro shop, Cabelas, Midwayusa, Brownells, etc most likely do the bulk of ammo sales. I would not be surprised at all to find out they have contracts just so if something like this happens there on the top of the list to receive resupply. I bet Walmart is having a almost impossible time finding ammo to buy to stock there shelves with.

What better way to cover up your inability to get something then to twist it so it makes you look good in the eyes of some of your customers.

Another thing that backs this up no one has said a word about them halting the order of guns. I talked to a guy in sporting goods today that said he cant even keep bolt action rifles in stock. He said as soon as they come in there gone. He has been getting shipments daily.

I think what Walmart is saying is, because we don't know if ammo sales are going to be limited or outlawed by Congress we aren't going to order any more ammo and then get stuck with a produce we won't be allowed to sell.

The ban if there is one, will be for ar's & hi cap mags. Nothing to do with ammo.
That's not what I've been hearing. Bitme wants to stop bulk sales of ammo and limit ammo sales too according to what's being leaked out of the meetings he's holding.

that's ok i have my own little factory, it is built out of bricks of primers and pounds of powder and a hill of lead that i have been shooting in for over 20 years here in redneck land:D

3 walmarts in a 20 mile radius and confirm no more orders being placed,,with todays new of millions of dollars devoted to usa made goods and jobs for vets i have in my mind some kind of copensation was promised from Obama to not order any more ammo and maybe stop selling all together...Wgere are they gonna get that much usa made goods,,not in clothes, shoes, electronics, furniture or home supplies
heaven knows it would be a boon but to me we pay twice,1 for obama compensation and 1 for the goods..good luck to the vets cause they need jobs!!!forgot to say ammo shelves are bare at walmart too!!!

Sounds like we have same habits, 'course I'm usually early and very few clerks around. #1 rule: avoid crowds if possible.
