Wally world shelves are bare

Picked up my 15-22 in a WalMart in SC ($447) yesterday...kind of an impulse purchase, been thinking about one before the panic, figured I better grab it while I can.
They had NO .22 ammo though, good thing I already had plenty. My big challenge now is finding extra mags.

I'm right with you. I found a 15-22 at Wal-Mart 30 miles south of my town. Went back Tuesday and bough it for the same price you paid. Had to drive to a gun shop 30 miles north of town to find .22 LR ammo. I was thankful to be able to buy 4 bricks of American Eagle .22 LR HP. I went back yesterday and the limit was down to 2 bricks.

I have not been able to find a source for magazines. If I see some I'll let you know.

Dicks on Wards

Cool. I let a buddy of mine know. Between the 400rds of 45 at wally world, 500rds of 45 from sgammo and the 420 rd can of 5.56 from cabelas, im tapped out for awhile.

Pm me if you are out and about and see the 550 packs of 22lr from walmart.

Thanks

Will do!! And since you're local, I have no issue grabbing it for you and getting it to you. I'm self employed and travel a ton as well. So I am constantly checking. When I'm on the road!

Checked two stores tidy, nothing to be found. I asked the sporting goods guy in the second store and he said they have been getting in a few cases every but they are gone in an hour.

I think that Walmart and other stores are not resupplying this ammo for fear of a caliber and rifle ban and if they buy the ammo they'll get stuck with it cause they can't sell it or send it back.

Hard to believe. It would be taken off the shelves as fast as they put it on right now. Any ban wouldn't be coming any time soon.

Might be BS. But, have you tried to find ammo from some of the Suppliers like Sportsman's Guide Warehouse, Georgia Arms or Natchez Sports? They're sold out...Guess the shortage whether it is intended or not, is not BS.
However, some of the LGS still have a limited supply although they don't offer a big selection.

I took today off just to hunt down ammo and goof off. Hit every "Mom&Pop" GS's,Wally Worlds and Farm Fleet types of stores with-in 50 miles (3 large Cities). Found Federal 550's,CCI,9's,45's and 5.56 ammo. Didn't wipe anyone out,but found enough just to find it. 5.56/.223 are the hardest but out there. Some stores have limits you can buy on most ammo. It's there, you just have to hunt for it.

Shelves here have been bare for more than three weeks. I have been checking two stores.

I asked a Walmart employee today about ammo specifically 223 and he said that the Walmart warehouse was waiting on a shipment of ammo. I think that Walmart and other stores are not resupplying this ammo for fear of a caliber and rifle ban and if they buy the ammo they'll get stuck with it cause they can't sell it or send it back.

No way. My local gun shop tells me that Walmart prices on ammo are low, like other items, because they mercilessly pound their suppliers on price. He said he cannot compete on price, other than he sells stuff easily if Walmart is out. :-)

My guess is that since Dick's stopped all sales of 'sporting rifles', that they would stop selling the ammo used in those rifles. Don't know for sure. Won't know either since I'll never step foot in another Dick's because of their bone-head move.

They also stopped selling all the accessories for the Sporting Rifles too. I also quit going to Dick's.

Happen to stop by my local Wally world tonight and they had winchester 9mm and .40 s&w in stock

Greensboro's 4 Walmart stores have been out of .22lr of any kind since before thanksgiving. I occasionally can find Tulla or WB .45, good luck finding Federal anything here.

The local radio station here in Southeast Kansas reported the other day that "Wal-Mart headquarters in Bentonville stated they were considering not stocking any ammo at all in the near future". Of course this made the ammo on the shelves fly off immediatly! Our Wal-Mart has just started selling guns again after not offering them for several years now. There hasn't been any new guns replaced in the display cabinet and the ammo shelves are becoming bare as well. The excuse given for the quit of ammo sales is "they don't want to be stuck with banned ammo"...really? I asked our store manager(who is a friend of mine)and she said rather bluntly..."that's not something I can talk about"! Pretty weird stuff! In our area we aren't close to a larger outlet such as Bass-pro, Gander mtn, Academy sports, these are all at least an hour and a half to two hours away so I sure hope this madness comes to a stop soon! Good luck to everyone out there during this "Ammo Hunting Season"!

Just came back from my local Walmart and there was 9mm, .40, and .45 to be had, but no .22 or .223.

The DSP next to it had all of the above, though so score for me.

Check a 3rd

I continued to check 2(one which I lucked out once at got 8 boxes of 223) the other, just random handgun ammo, mostly 45, but the 3rd I decided to check at twice, the second time the guy said they get 9mm all the time, I told him ive been looking everywhere! Got 4 boxes of 9mm and left about 8 behind for other shooters

Check out Ace in town man. I bought 1000 rounds and they had plenty as of Tuesday night!

Thanks, but they are out as of today. Went looking for some SD 9mm for my new shield. They were out of that as well.
