I've been surfing the web today and came across several emails about
prices going up on Federal .22 lr ammo bulk packs from @ $15.47 now to
@ $ 18.97 in certain areas. Someone mentioned that the price would go up @ 30% across the board - way too much I think.

Yes I know it is all he said, she said - but ya never know these days.

I looked today at a local Walmart and it was still $15.47 Fed bulk pack. Other ammo remained the same as last time I was by there..still no .38 special bummer....!

Anyone noticed anything happening in your areas ?

Not trying to start anything just curious is all.

Have a nice weekend all.

I am in N Dallas.
The Rem 550 did go from 13.97 to 15.97.
Win 9mm 50ct went from $11+ to $13+.
Fed 550 is still 15.47

30% is not WAY too much. A 30% increase is still less than the gun store hooligans charge and we all know that some of those gun stores were just buying up Walmart stock and reselling it in their own stores for a premium during the crunch last year.

Walmart has been stuck at their old prices since before the last election (as in the 2008 election). It's about time that their supplier's contracts ran out and they were able to raise prices. Ammo has been few and far between in Atlanta's Walmarts over the last 15 months and the cost never changed. It's about time that it starts sitting on the shelf for more than a few hours, but I doubt it will even for 30% more . . .

I was at Walmart yesterday and the guy in the sport dept. said that prices will be going up.

I agree 110%. The contracts probably changed and therefore Wal-Mart has to charge a little more for the ammo. It is still a lot less than the A@@hol#s buying it up and reselling it. I know for a fact a local gunstore owner was doing it until the local Wal-Marts got wise to his doings. We have had a 6 box limit since he was caught (locals complained to the managers).

i just wish i could find ammo without having to drive to 2-3 places every time i want some. then it is frustrating that i can't get all my needs in one place. went to walmart (2nd one) to get my .22 fed and some 12 gauge but had to drive to two others to get .40cal

I was at our walmart last night and I was talking to the sales guy (friend) in the sporting goods section and a guy walked in and asked him if he had any 40 SW ammo. The salesman looked and said yea 3 boxes and they guy said good I will take them all. People are still buying pistol ammo as fast as it arrives at Walmart. This is causing a huge increase in 22LR ammo sales because more people are shooting it now because they can get the ammo and it's still relatively low priced compared to other pistol ammo. I think the increase in sales of 22LR ammo is causing the increase in prices because it comes down to supply and demand.

I love shooting 22 caliber handguns and the prices on these guns have risen quickly when other caliber handgun prices have softened during the past 6 months.

I picked up two S&W revolvers yesterday at a gun show at a good price from a dealer I know but these deals are getting harder and harder to find.

Things are getting somewhat better in my area. The last gun show I went to you could get all the primers you wanted, there were three vendors all asking a different price, ammo was the same. Now that the shortage caused by panic buying is clearing up I am going to wait a while and see where prices go, I don"t think they will ever be as low as 3 years ago but they should settle down when people aren't rushing out to buy it as soon as it hits the shelf.

I was just in the local Wally this morning. Federal bulk .22's now up to $18.97 from $15.47.

AMMO PRICES

YOU SHOULD ALREADY HAVE YOUR SUPPLY. I'VE HAD MINE FOR YEARS. PRICES ARE GOING TO SYAY WHERE THEY ARE
THOSE HOW PAID HIGH PRICE ARE GOING TO STAY HIGH PRICED UNTIL THEY SELL & GET IT CHEAPER.

LOOK @ THE PRICE OF BRASS THATS WHY ITS NOT GOING DOWN. PEOPLE WHO SELL BRASS ARE KEEPING PRICES HIGH.
THEY ARE THE PROBLEM.

I SAY BUY AS MUCH AS YOU CAN AFORD & NOTHING LESS.
THEN WHEN PRICES GO UP YOU ALREADY BOUGHT @ A LOWER PRICE. GOOD LUCK

P.S. I GOT OVER 15K IN 22LR NOT FOR SALE. MY DAUGHTER 11 SHE NEEDS IT TO LEARN HOW TO SHOOT.:D

WAL-MART IS THE BEST PLACE TO BUY AMMO. I DO LIKE THIER WINCHESTER 45ACP VALUE PACK 29.99 PER 100 WHEN IN STOCK OR REMINGTON 550 PACK 22LR GOLDEN BOY 15.97.

Wait... Walmart sells ammo? Hmm I haven't seen a box on the shelf in months.

the county i live in, wally doesnt sell ammo. its 25 miles each way by freeway to either the next counties where all wallys is that does sell ammo. its hit and miss. mostly miss and they carry mostly rifle ammo. 7mag, 243, etc that i dont shoot. when i find a caliber they carry that i shoot i buy my 6 box limit. they do carry lead free hunting ammo Fed barnes TSX and win e-tip at sane prices.

indepedent gun stores around here were buying up as much as they could at wally and then selling it at steep markup till they put in the 6 box limit. although to be fair before the ammo crush i have been known to buy a case lot, but i was shooting a lot and not re-selling
nice arbitrage if you can get away with it.

Local Walmart here have a surplus of 22 ammo. I have been able to pick up 100 count boxes of Winchester 9mm $19.99 and 40S&W $24.99 most are looking for 223.

Yep.. things have certainly gone from bad to worse... the person I talked to at the Tracy store said that Wally-world in CA is no longer selling handgun ammo as a result of AB962 being signed into law.

Time to stock up via the internet while one can, until 02/2011.

Up north of KC, the rural Wallys are up to close to $17/550 fed. Bulk pack...around KC...still $15.47

I'm good...I've been stocking up for a rainy decade.

Bob

I'm sorry to say that it isn't just Wal-Mart. I noticed that Academy Sports jumped about $7 for their 250 count mega pack in .40 S&W.

You guys don't fret and such. The place will be called "Great Value" soon after they have copied all the goods they sell from those reputable people that helped them get where they are and they have overpriced their products over their new "Great Value" prices, but don't expect the same quality.

...been wanting to say that a long time. heh
