Swung in to Walmart to pick up some corn for my pet squirrels and walked by the ammo case. I knew there wouldn't be any 22's but I noticed a new sign. It said that ammo would be put in the ammo display starting at 8 am and at different times thereafter during the day. The 3 box limit was only on 22's now.
So it appears they are trying to stop those that are getting there at 8 to clean the shelves by staggering the stocking times.

That's a good idea, hopefully it will catch on in my area. The last walmart guy I talked too said that if I didn't get there at 0630 that I was probably too late for .22 ammo. That's ridiculous.

Oh and by the way having a pet squirrel sounds awesome!

Both awesome and annoying, I imagine. They are cute but judging by youtube vids, climb on everything non-stop. Can you train them to use a litterbox?

Had a pet squirrel that would jump on my shoulder when I opened her cage and would stay on my shoulder when I would walk around the yard with no desire whatsoever to join her wild brethren in the trees around us.
You can't potty train them, though. At least their poop comes out in little easy to clean pellets. :)

Those two words don't go together. Walmart and Smart not even close. You must have been in a different store and had a memory lapse.

squirrel taste like chicken. My uncle had a pet squirrel when I was a kid, now that was a long time ago. Ran around the house freely and also never tried to get out. His name was Dickie, guess he was a smart rodent as he didn't leave the house.

Just left WM & they stagger ammo here as well. But they had 9 &22! 3 of us saw it and waited. We split it evenly 3 ways clerk said it lasted 45 minutes

There are 12 Walmarts within a thirty minute drive of my house, in SW Florida. For over a year they have all had the 3 box limit on all ammunition. However in the last six months, some stores have gone even further, by only allowing a 1 box limit, if the box contains 100 rounds or more. So at those stores you can only buy one box of bulk 22 LR ammo. I don't waste my time or gas, driving to those stores. I go to the stores that still allow 3 boxes per person, which means if I can find it, I can buy 3 boxes of the Federal 550 rounds of 22 LR, or 3 boxes of the Winchester 555 rounds of 22 LR.

Got a family of 5 squirrels in the backyard. I built several spinning and rolling contraptions they have to endure to get the corn. Lots of entertainment while sitting on the back porch having a drink and smoking a cigar.

I checked my local Walmart at 9:00 yesterday. Pretty thin but nobody to ask when the last stock came in. I checked Cabelas. No .22 either.

There are 4 Walmarts in my area within 20 minutes of each other.
I have not seen .22LR, 9mm or 38 SPL.
They do have plenty of 223, 556, and 40 and 45. Might be time for me to get something in those calibers.

I check an online ammo place regularly. How much is 22lr supposed to cost? When I bought my 22 rifle on impulse I got lucky and didn't know it, the gun store had 3 boxes 525 count and I got one for $40. That was this past august. That same federal 525 count box is online occasionally for $110.

I went in a small town pawn shop the other day and they had hardly no guns or ammo but there were five boxes of old Winchester T22 .22 long rifle for $4 per box. I didn't buy any and then realized I had not seen any .22 ammo at a Walmart or other store in over a year, I went back to buy the ammo and you guessed it, all gone.

I bought a brick of .22LR today, right behind a guy who bought a brick. He - being the talkative type - told me that he "buys .22LR any time he can" and was proud to say that he had stockpiled over 20,000 rounds of it. He went on to tell me that he was in a Walmart and they had no limit on .22LR, so he bought all they had (12 bricks of it) much to the chagrin of the guy behind him who just wanted a single brick. He told me that he said "too bad" to the guy behind him and that was that.

I told him "You're an ***". He was speechless. Imagine that.
