My wife's 2012 Impala got the "change oil soon" message so I figured to do it before she went 150mi R/T. Only had 1 5qt Castrol GTX synthetic on the shelf. Tooled over to the "Big" Wally (hadn't been in since July) and whole different store:
1) Ripped up the lino floor and went with polished concrete. I like the utility, looks "slippery when wet."
2) The aisles "capture you" in that if you go in a section you have blockage for 4 or 5 aisles before you get back on the main aisle.
3) They moved the firearms next to auto. I panicked thinking they went gunless/P/C but they are there. Orderly; .22's, B/A rifles, shotguns. There was 1 kind of ammo, probably 8x50R Lebel. Nobody home and the phone ringing off the hook, which is how it always is.
4) Auto is orderly, Castrol Syn 5-30 for $20, "high mileage" $22 which is wht I got.
5) Filters were plentiful for a change and the American made blue ones were back. Got 2 for the impala and 2 for the truck. Had to hunt for the 3980's, new stock pushed the old stock behind, again nothing new.
6) The "self checkout" is a breeze. Used to take forever to get past the 2 or 3 open cashiers. I slightly resent working for free for 5 minutes as that would be $6 at the "pharma sales rate." I also value FAST.
I might go back after Christmas, remodel should be complete by then. Joe

I always have WM do my oil changes. 20 bucks and the don’t try to upsell anything. If you need an air filter they pull one off the shelf and charge the store price. Same guy has been doing mine for five years.

After the last oil change at the Toyota dealer I may try Walmart. My Toyota uses 0W-16 oil which for some reason is high dollar. Last oil change cost me $95 with tire rotation. They also tried selling me a fuel injector cleaner for $65 trying to make me think if was required maintenance. When I called them on it after checking my manual they denied it. Of course the last time I looked there was no 0W-16 oil on Walmart shelves.

Always do the full synthetic at Walmart every 6 months and usually it's a Pennsoil special price deal new Ford Escape Titanium.
The 2014 Chevy Cruze has an odd hard to find in stock filter so I bring my own.

At the checkout I had $50.00 coming back. The cashier only had a $50.00 bill. Tried to have it broken down to smaller bills at other checkouts and also customer service and was informed that it was against store policy, however if I bought something then they could change the $50.00 bill. I pointed to my grocery cart and asked "I just did"

One time when I was traveling I tried to get an oil change at Walmart. After I waited over an hour they finally got my truck in. Another 1/2 hour, oops, sorry, can't get the filter off. So bye, see ya. Vehicle was a Toyota Tundra.

I go just to people watch. now retired with lots of time, things that once would have upset me now just amuse me. Besides, winter has hit florida so it's now officially yoga pants season Also, my "standards" seem to have degraded. Perhaps a sign that cataract surgery is getting closet??
