I'd like to start a similar discussion, but focused on woods OTHER than walnut. Here is my contribution: 1) Makassar Ebony; 2) Ziricote; 3) Cocobolo; 4) more Makassar Ebony; 5) more Cocobolo.

Here are pictures of Ahrends retro-combat cordia wood grips on my 6" Model 29-6. I bought the grips unfinished a few years ago and gave them a tung oil finish.

IMHO, WALNUT IS THE MOST COMMONLY USED WOOD FOR STOCKING FIREARMS---ESP RIFLES AND SHOTGUNS......

WHEN IT COMES TO S&W REVOLVERS, I HAVE REPLACED ALL OF THOSE FINGER GROOVED GOODYEARS WITH AHRENDS, SMOOTH TACTICAL CONVERSION GRIPS.......

MY WOOD OF CHOICE IS TUNG OIL FINISHED MORADILLO......
