LGS has brand-new, never fired, Walther .380 PPK engraved pistol for about $875. Was wondering about collectibility/value of this gun. When I inquired about it the owner said, "If it doesn't sell soon, it's going in my safe. Will never fire it." Any info/pics appreciated. Thanks.

If it a German made one it will have some collectible value, but 875 is still kind of high. I have a couple of Wlthers in 32 and 380 usually the PP's in 380 are in the 6 to 8 bill range and anything Nazi marked is higher. I sometimes caryy my PP.

More info or photo needed.

Do you even know for certain that this is facory engraving?

Are the grips white?

Is it a factory done job,,one of the standard patterns from Walther w/ papers ect.
Hand engraved or a laser cut job.

It could be easily worth the money if it's a hand engraved pistol,,done by Walther, came from the factory that way and has the factory paperwork to prove it.

If aftermarket,,unfired since the work done,,it's a different story. Might still be a decent buy depending on the quality of the work, finish, ect.

AFAIK, any factory engraved German production Walther came in a Walther marked display box w/a satin type cloth lining. The outer surface of the box was a leather (type?) material, the box being hinged at the top.

Inter-Arms production, made in the USA pistols,,I'm not familiar with as far as engraved guns. I know they put out some lase cut commemorative type pistols late. I think they offered hand engraved guns too, but don't know much about them.
Documentation,,factory documentation,, and paperwork is the key to originality and therefore value.

A 380 Walther PPk by itself if German production can bring a good portion of the $875 w/o any engraving.

Lots to look in to before buying.

Check in with the P38 forum,,,,go to the PP & PPk section,,, and give them info, markings, ser#, type engraving, finish & pics and you'll get some honest answers.
