Walther PDP 9mm ??

Anybody have any experience with the Walther PDP compact 9mm ? We don't have any in stock but my coworker says it's hands down the best self-defense/EDC firearm on the market.

He says the trigger is just awesome !! fabulous reset, crisp break and so on. Just a great newer Walther.

A LGS has a deal going on for them for $499 and they come with two 15 round mags and a Ameriglo Haven RD free. It has the Optics ready base of course.

I have a Sig P365 that I love so I'm in no hurry to jump off a cliff. But the way he talks it up he's got me thinking.

I have no experience with the PDP but have a PPQ and it is awesome. Your buddy is correct about the trigger in my experience. I had a second PPQ which was equally great but it went back to my buddy I had bought it from.

The PDP offerings from Walther are nice. There have been a few comments on the Walther Forum that the PPQ trigger is better than the PDP trigger out of the box.

The PDP is a fat boy and harder to CC IWB than my usual EDC options - the S&W 3953 or sometimes Walther PPS m1.

For me, I'll stick with my DAO 3953 as my choice for best self defense EDC pistol.

Ah...your friend speaks the truth. I have both the PPQ and PDP. They are both same except the PDP stippling from factory is way better than PPQ. However I put talon grip tape on ppq and it's solid

My PPQ and PDP triggers are best striker fired period. However moving target to target and distances greater than 50ft my PPQ is faster and better. That's because I have an apex flat trigger on my ppq so not a fair comparison. However for a self defensevgun I prefer stock trigger which is more forgiving. The apex makes the ppq a great competition gun but the fact all pretravel gone very prone to double taps.

I also have the p365 but got rid of that. The rolling break is awful and unless you are focused shots because of the rolling break easy to shoot low left.

The pdp and ppq you simply can't miss. My shots at 75ft are better than most shooters at 30ft

I think that the PDP and the PPQ both have wonderful triggers but there are other good after market triggers for the many other striker fired semi autos. I am also a fan of the Sig 365 X macro that I have put a custom trigger in. I also love the Canik Mete mc9 that has a wonderful trigger out of the box. I have put Apex triggers in both an M&P Compact and a Shield 9mm Gen-1. they were both very good. I have a Glock 45 with a really good after market trigger as well. I think that the PDP is a very good platform but it is a bit blocky/bulky.

The MP 2.0 and shield with apex makes it great but after 30ft the ppq walks away. The MP barrel don't lock up tight so they at distances are not as accurate. The p365 with rolling break is awful even with Grey guns trigger

I owned a PDP for a bit and sold it. It is a solid gun with a great trigger and ergonomics. But I don't own it anymore and frankly I would buy an M&P in 9mm full size. I think the trigger on both are very comparable and the ergo's are really the same. It's boils down to making choices. But after shooting so many guns over 55 years, I know what I like now.
