i want to help out with the disaster in ct/ ny/nj
i used to be in the ct air national guard but i got out in 2010, the whole time i was in i hoped that i could help out my state when an issue came up but in my 6 years in nothing happened.
now that im out our entire region gets destroyed and now i cant join our boys in helping. i know everyone will tell me you can help by donating money or essentials to the people affected, but it isnt the same thing as driving down thru the area and physically helping these people put things back together.
what can i do??

I felt the same way when the tornado hit Joplin, Mo. I wanted to help, but things were in such a mess, and restrictions were up to prevent looting that it was difficult to say the least. I went and rented a trailer, and hauled 2 15' trailers full of bottled water to the relief sites. It was the only thing I good do that would have any positive impact due to conditions.

Sometimes a prayer, and thoughts can mean as much as actual physical assistance. That you want to help speaks volumes about your character. It may be that you send them your wishes, however you see fit, and remember that spirit in your local community in the upcoming holiday season. A place, and time where your effort, and will also be well appreciated, and have maximum impact.

BTW, thank you for your sense of brotherhood, and humanity.
