I've started watching some of these old KING OF COOL (Steve McQueen) westerns 1959-1960??? I am too young to remember much of them. He has a 4 barreled derringer kept mostly in his saddle bag. NO IDEA what brand/model so I posted it here. A bit of WD OR A trivia this am.

I'm old enough to remember Steve McQueen westerns, but do not recall what type of 4-barrel derringer he used. There were several manufacturers - Remington, Sharps, Iver Johnson, and others.
I do recall that Steve McQueen died young (53 or so, of pancreatic cancer), and that the folks from "Pawn Stars" sold his 1953 Chevrolet convertible recently for something like $89,000 at a Florida automobile auction. Okay, enough trivia for one morning. Perhaps an expert will come along and tell us who manufactured McQueens 4-barrel.

Plenty old enough to remember the series, but I never watched it first run. Making up for that now, it's on one of the nostalgia channels every morning. Don't know about the derringer, (never saw it), but I do know that the show's higher-ups didn't think the pistol caliber rounds used in Randall's Mare's Leg looked sinister enough. That's why he's got 45-70's in the loops on his gun belt.

I believe Steve McQueen died of lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure, not pancreatic cancer. He drove race cars and there was asbestos dust involved in that from clothing and brake materials. He also thought he had exposure during his time in the Navy.

Well, my go to site for this type of info let me down for that derringer, didn't have much on that show at all.

The derringer wasn't in Dead or Alive.
I'm old enough to remember and local station has been running the series, watch it every Saturday morning...to my wife's amusement .
Probably thinking of Yancy Derringer , his arm was a 4 barrel Sharps derringer .

We have a local station ( MeTV I think ) that runs old tv westerns...right now it's
The Rifleman ... I really enjoy watching the old ones again... I strap on my six gun and have a great Saturday morning watching them !

I finally got a front view of it & it did have 4 barrels & the show WAS wanted dead or alive! Most of the time it was in the left side of his saddle bags, or on rare occasions tucked into his belt. He gave it to a kid the other day and said, it's a 4 shot, cock the hammer & pull the trigger. I've never seen Yancy Derringer. You should CHECK YOUR FACTS before disputing someone elses.

I didn't personally see McQueen with one, but Yancy def. had Sharps derringers. Don't think he mentioned caliber.

Paladin had both Colt and Remington derringers, as I recall.

The only time I've encountered a Williamson derringer in fiction was in a Modesty Blaise book. She gave one to a friend, but as an antique gift. She gave nice gifts. One guy got a Breguet watch.

Do to the garbage on tv now I been buying the older tv series dvd’s And watch them. Like wanted dead or alive, Paladin, the rebel, an assortment of old western movies with Charles Bronson.

Interesting, isn't it, how if you really like a series from the past, it doesn't appear dated or cheesy. For me, it's The Invaders of '67-'68. But memory fails me too, on occasion. There are scenes I seemed to remember from 50+ years ago that do not appear on the boxed sets.

Without a pic that "4 barreled derringer" could be nothing more than blurred vision caused by watching too many late-night reruns.

Finally got a quick glimpse of the derringer in question on this morning's episode. Randall used it to dispatch a couple bad guys, (Wayne Rogers and Warren Oates), who'd relieved him of the Mare's Leg.

Always fun to see actors before they became famous. Gene Hackman plays an alien on an Invaders episode shortly before The French Connection. I keep hoping/expecting him to yell "Popeye's here!" ;)

I believe he was a MARINE.
