I saw in the FAQs what the air gap for S&W guns should be. What I would like to know is how to measure it. For instance, what tool would I use? Would a metal automotive points gauge work? Is there something I can buy at Brownell's or McMaster-Carr?

The gun in question is a NAA Black Widow with two cylinders, a .22LR and a .22 magnum. But I think it would apply to any revolver.

BTW, what I am referring to as "air gap" is the distance between the front of the cylinder face (where the bullet would be) and the biginning of the barrel.

Thanks,
Mike D.

If you are referring to the BC gap, just use regular automotive feeler gauges. They work perfectly if they are of the blade type.:)

Thanks. Now all I have to do is find my feeler gauges. I haven't used them since some time in the '70s!

Good old 1973 VW Superbeetle. I put many happy miles on that thing.
