After 20 years of seeking, I have compiled a full set of blued Mod 27-1 in all of its available barrel lengths: 3.5", 5", 6", 6.5" and 8 3/8". With the exception of my 5", all are 95%+ condition and as they left the factory (still need to letter the newly acquired 6.5" but it appears 100% correct, even with the front bead).
My 5" is a high-quality shooter grade and factory original, but I would like to acquire a 5" of similiar condition to the rest of the set. We all know exact numbers of 27-1 variants produced are not known, but I've seen the most examples in my years of owning and trading up 27-1 variants in the 5" barrel. However, the 5" examples also seem to be the hardest worn. I've just not been able to come to unity with a high-condition 5" that is appropriately valued.
I'm interested in hearing from any forum members who may be willing to part with a 95% or greater 27-1 5" barrel, blued that is 100% original from the factory. It is not necessary to have the original box, tools, or paperwork, but if you do that's obviously desireable. Bonus dollars go to unusual sights that letter as factory! Every 5" example I have seen has been red ramp.
