I was just out shooting my new bodyguard .380 ran 2 mags of corbon dpx 80gr jhp. And 2 mags of cci blazer 95gr fmj.
The corbon casing swelled. Every single one of them in the same place. The cci had no problems. The corbon ran fine with no malfunctions but with every one of them swelling it makes me think a jam is imminent here is a couple of pics from my crappy phone. Anyone else have this issue?

Non-supported chamber. The cases probably wouldn't have expanded thusly if your barrel hadn't been loose enough to let it happen. This is the same situation people are talking about when they pick on Glocks.

But the cci casings didn't bulge

Because they weren't loaded as hot. It's still a weapon-related and not an ammo problem. The simple solution is to not use max loads in that pistol.

Your "warning" relates ONLY to that pistol/ammo combination.

The Glock 42 has brought a renewed interest in the .380. Folks who had been convinced by "experts" that the .380 was an inadequate caliber are now rethinking it, and naturally want to get hotrod ammo to substitute for larger bullets.

Most of the .380's were not really intended to shoot this stuff. Including the Glock. Tons of the M42's are being sent back by dissatisfied customers and Glock is replacing the stock springs with heavier ones.

Your BG380 will run fine on round nose ammo and will last a lot longer if you don't run the boutique super-dooper-dollar-a-round stuff.

Just another opinion...

That looks like "glocked" brass. It comes from the loose and unsupported chamber. I don't see it being a reliability issue unless you reload. Seeing as the bulge occurs when you fire and the case is on its way out of the gun.

It concerned me because it looks like it is close to blowing through which i think could be a problem. But this is my first .380 so i'm learning but at least others can see not to run the dpx in the bodyguard

I carry a .380 for my EDC and I "feel" confident that if I was put into a situation where I have to use it, the firearm would perform.

Well then colby you should give me that beretta and help a fellow georgian be ready for the bad guys

Source? Because I'm calling BS Big Time. Yes, I have shot Corbon DPX in a G42 and it purred like a kitten. The only problems I have read about with the G42 are either weak ammo related or limpwristers. I watched a Fed. agent limpwrist this same gun with ball ammo. Needless to say, he was embarrassed. Although not a great lover of .380's, the G42 is easily the most "shootable" I have ever shot.

My lgs has gotten 2 in they sold crazy fast and both came back with failure to feed issues

G42 "problems"

When I first got G42, I was a little concerned experiencing occasional FTE's unlike my experience with my other Glocks.
After firing more rounds the problems went away. Have fired several hundred with zero issues since my first few rounds. I am convinced that the early FTE's were simply a break in issue...

Looks like too much flaring on the mouth of the barrel. The case is past it's supported area.
