Grrrrrr. I hate the beaurocracy in Pennsylvania. Specifically this ACT 235 garbage..... I have been in law enforcement for over 15 years, been a CCW carrier for 20+ years, had NUMEROUS training classes, civilian, military, and LEO. And yet, I am still expected to take a 40 hour class that costs anywhere from $300-500, plus pay the state $80, plus pay for a psychological exam that costs $150-200 to get a dang ACT 235 card!!! Are you friggin kidding me with this nonsense???? OH! and there are NO WAIVERS for training. What a bunch of hooey, nothing but a money scheme. Oh, yes, I almost forgot, the nearest training locations is 100 miles away. They can kiss my empty shell casings
 
Pennsylvania is the Land of Taxes, Fees and Permits. They make 20 Year Military Veterans take the ACT 235 course and pay the fees too. The Commonwealth takes its pound of flesh no matter what.

I only have one bit of advice.....MOVE! Once these kinds of regulations go into effect it is incredibly difficult to get them repealed!
 
Such fees, etc. are designed as barriers to prevent or at least discourage law abiding citizens from exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. Of course if the exact same requirements were put into place in regard to left-wing liberals from exercising their 1st Amendment rights, the msm and all others would immediately see that such a thing was clearly unconstitutional. However, given that this situation only involves citizens seeking to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights, the msm and all others just don't seem to see a problem.
 
I'm assuming an ACT 235 is for CC? I can fully understand your anger. I also thought PA was a gun friendly state. I am appalled that there seems to be less and less adherence to the US Constitution. I surely hope that we as gun owners might some day ban together as a very powerful voting block. I can't see any other way.
 
Aha, just one more way to create a revenue stream, and one more roadblock to legal C/C for those attempting to obey the laws.
 
I think it's for LEO's only. Had a concealed permit for 42 years here. They are issued by County and each sets their own regs. Never had to take act 235.
 
Besides the high cost, it doesn't seem that different from any other state. requiring a special training class to be armed security.

Pennsylvania is not as gun friendly as some think.

And as for law enforcement jobs, forget it. That's why i don't live in Pennsylvania anymore. I was born and raised in Erie, but left for Virginia to get into law enforcement.

On a funny note, my parents visited me in Colorado this spring, and my dad and i went to a local gun store. He asked what the process was to buy a gun here, and I told him that I had to fill out the form, background check took about 15 minutes, then I walked out the door with my gun. He asked when and where I register it. My reply was "Welcome to a gun friendly state", which elicited an "Amen" from two of the guys behind the counter.
