When I lived in Colorado and would occassionaly shoot at public spot in the mountains I would always lament when you see that someone shot up a TV or something. Well if I could do it I would take my POS Samsung washing out for a little target practice. Spent a fortune to get the shock absorbers replaced (whoever heard of such a thing on a washing machine), then it started throwing an error code C4. According to the manual this meant there was a problem with the water supply, so I cleaned the intake filters as suggested, still coding. Internet research said that a failed water intake valve could cause the issue, well it is only a $40 part and fairly easy to replace. Still got the code.

I figure to start with some .22WMR; then a little .32. After that it's serious .357, .44 special and mag, .45. I want to top it off with about 10 pounds of tannerite.

Does any manufacturer make an old fashioned washer that is 100% electromechanical with no friggin computers. I have a piece of **** kenmore that does not know what to do due to the computers, keeps filling up and draining and doing what ever it wants to. set up cleaning cycle, screen says 45 minutes and 30 minutes later it says 55 minutes WTF. why does a washer need 5g and computers?
 
We feel your pain.

Load clothes, fill with water, wash, rinse. That's all that was ever needed.

We have a machine with umpteen options - none of which I use although the wife uses some of them.

Sometime when the machine is full of her stuff I wash a few things by hand in the kitchen sink.

Washing machines are just one more example of how the new age of computer driven devices with innumerable options is driving us all to drink!
 
The 25 yr old unit died and I couldn’t get parts for it about 8 years ago,but I found a heavy duty top loader on sale because that model was noisy lol. So far,so good!
 
We bought a Samsung washer, it kept freaking out. Would spin go out of balance reset, drain and fill up again. Several other error codes. It was a PITA!, finally got tired of it and was not gonna pay for a service tech. We went and bought a LG and it is still running fine,
 
We had a Kenmore washer and dryer set we bought in the late 1970s and used until 2020. Had a few problems with the dryer but nothing I couldn't fix myself. Only reason we didn't keep those longer was my BIL died in late 2019 and he had a much newer Kenmore laundry pair, from around 1995, that we got. Both still work fine after nearly six years in our service. The Kenmores had no electronics or computers, just plain Jane simple top load washing machine models. Sears sold good appliances. One might do better buying used Kenmore appliances. I know there are places here in San Antonio that sell reconditioned used washers and dryers, probably some older Kenmores to be found there. BTW, I did have a problem with the first Kenmore dryer (electric). It required a replacement part I could not find locally because of the age of the dryer. But I did find one on eBay. More expensive than I thought it should be, but at least it made the dryer operational again.

Went over to my buddies house one time. Was in the neighborhood and thought I'd stop by. He was living in a 3 story townhouse at the time. As I'm walking up to the door, I hear a crash in the parking lot behind me. I look over and there are the remains of a printer, smashed to bits. I look up and there on the third floor balcony is my friend, having just tossed the printer off the balcony. He came down with a beer in one hand and a broom in the other, handed me the beer and told me he'd be in when he was done cleaning up. We went printer shopping that evening.

My first car was a Vega. Bought it for $50 with a blown engine. Rebuilt the engine and that little car never let me down except in the looks and performance areas. Like the VW it was an ugly little car with no power, but it went everywhere I asked it to go, just slowly. When I got rid of it, I drove it to a u-pull it place and offered it to them for free. They declined. So, I drove it home, put an ad in the paper and sold it for $250 to a guy who was gonna make a V-8 drag car out of it. Maybe because it was my first car and first taste of real freedom, but I loved that little car.

I did something similar with a perpetually troublesome printer about 15 years ago. Frustration got the better of me, but I used a hammer.

Try it you will like it. I have 3 to my credit. I do it when I change out the rounds in my 9 shot 12G Mossie pump. Loaded with 4 00 buck and then 5 slugs. Even the computer wizes that they show on the TV series NCIS could not get info off my hard drive. :LOL:
 
Speed Queen, no fancy stuff, washes extremely fast, has an agitator, none of that water saver stuff that won’t rinse the soap out, but it is not cheap.
 
When our 25 year old washer gave up the ghost I bought a Maytag Commercial Technology model. Made in the USA and minimal electronics. Still using the 30 year old Kenmore Heavy Duty gas dryer.
 
Had a Kenmore that took abuse like a trailer park housewife. Thing was a tank. It was old when I bought my house and then I got another 20 years from it. Finally died and could not be resuscitated.

Went a bought a really nice high end washer because the wife does the laundry and she deserves the best I could get.

One day she is out of the house doing something and I figured I'd help her out and score Great Husband points by running a few loads of laundry for her while she is out. My wife and I divide household chores by traditional gender roles; you come into my house and it's 1950 and we are both fine with that. Upshot: I'm not allowed to do laundry, she says "thats my job".

I throw in a load and go to my office. About 45 minutes later I get a text from the wife "Are you doing laundry?". I'm shocked! How did you know? "The washing machine sent me a text message saying the load was done."

The. Washing. Machine. Sent. My. Wife. A. Text.

I couldn't believe that. I got narced on by a household appliance.

If you do the Tannerite thing, video the event and post it here on the Forum so we all can indulge our defective appliance destruction fantasies vicariously.
 
Samsung makes good TV's, nothing else. LG=Literal Garbage.
GE makes a decent washer. Whirlpool makes a decent fridge, **** stove.
I had a "Magic Chef" washer and dryer in my previous house, new in 1989, rode hard constantly. Bet it's still running today.
Let's not get started on "smart" vehicles..............Joe
 
It's been 45 yrs. and I'm on my second Maytag top loader. I got it used for $100. Parts are still available and it's easy to work on. The timer is mechanical - you can stop it in the middle of a cycle, go backwards, go forwards, go to the end, start over, etc.
I don't know anyone that has a front loader that hasn't had problems.
