To really understand Washington/Seattle politics just look at the way the tunnel in Seattle was financed. An overhead road called the Alaska Way was in crumbling and in danger of collapse during an earth quake. There were several ways to replace it. The most expensive was a tunnel the city could not afford. But, they wanted a tunnel, just had to have a tunnel. Solution the city, which has the majority of the population of the state gets a bill rammed though the state legislator that makes the entire state foot the bill for the tunnel, because it will benefit all the people of Washington. Sure it will.

I used to live and work in Washington, I still go out there to work a few months a year. I hate Seattle and avoid it like the plague. Most people in Washington, who don't live in Seattle/King county feel the same way. Buy a soft drink.Get charge a tax for a sugared drink. Want to park? LMAO. Tent cities of the homeless and their excrement everywhere. Its an arm pit.

You got it figured out my friend. That is EXACTLY how things work in this state. I moved away from Seattle and the People's Republic of Puget Sound just as soon as I could without giving up the years I had invested in my career. And when I did I moved just as far away from it as I possibly could.

Unfortunately, the liberal beast there has long tentacles, and even being on the opposite border doesn't mean being free of their influence (a.k.a. idiocy). Philosophically Seattle has become a sister city to Portland - a city which prides itself on being "weird" and a hotbed of anarchists. Sad, but the whole left cost has become infected and infested with it.

SPD is a weird case, as most of the cops there have given up on policing due to the lack of support. While POLITICALLY, the senior folks there would be inclined to order a response to that reported violation, it would take a search warrant to get into the house. While there are some pretty "interesting" views in the King County judiciary (especially the District Courts), and a trial level judge might issue such a warrant, the appellate courts are likely to respond poorly, and I think most of my colleagues would advise the KCPAO folks to not go there. (With the current city attorney, I have no confidence in the rule of law and I avoid that office as much as I can.)

People with kids have to live differently than I do. People with vindictive ex-spouses need to live in a manner that keeps the maximum amount of distance.

Looks the the voters in this state are intent on further restricting the rights of lawful gun owners with added restrictions on MSR's and firearm storage.

Washington state voters pass ballot measure to further regulate guns, including semi-automatic rifles | The Seattle Times

We have veered from the original topic into a general critique and analysis of the Washington state social and political system as a whole.
I doubt our discussion is going to fix all that, so we're done here. ;)
