It costs money to run the site. One way to get money is to sell advertising access. Another is to get a lot of small contributions from those who use the site.

On this site, users actually get to choose which way they would like to see the site funded, and the way they choose is the way they see: people who would prefer that the site be funded by ads see ads, and people who would prefer that the site be funded by small contributions from users do not see ads.

What gives with the deluge of ads popping up all over; surrounding/framing the site, never-ending annoyance while visiting?

Understand admin of forums is a thankless job and monies must be generated or donated to assist in running. But this is beyond offensive.

This recently has turned one of the best gun forums around into a not interested anymore with the intrusion of these ads.

Anyone have any clarity on this?

I have been an active member for 10 years and this is a huge turnoff.

I have not seen a ad on here in over 10 years! What am I doing wrong!

So, what if you're a contributor AND you still get hit by ads?

The one I really HATE is the one with the annoying drums and clapping.
When it starts, I bail and do something else.
