Yes you heard it here!

Johnson and Johnson has been ordered to pay $72 million to a family of a women who died of ovarian cancer.
Apparently this was caused by her use of baby powder (aka talc powder)How this was "proven" I have no idea.

How many babies bottoms were exposed to this deadly powder??

What about other brands or the dreaded generics??

Was baby powder an off shoot of early chemical weapons??

My Mom used it on our feet after a day at the beach, it really does make the sand fall off:D

Sadly, with so much money at stake, and so many lawyers involved, we may well never know the truth of this situation.

In 1997 an internal memo from the company medical consultant said that anyone who denies the risk of using hygienic talc and ovarian cancer is denying the obvious in the face of all evidence contrary.

However, in the past talcum powder contained talc that contained asbestos

All I know is that baby powder is what makes all strippers smell the same. Please do not ask me how I know that; you are just going to have to take my word.

I do have a pretty funny story on this subject, but there is no way I am going to tell it here. It will just have to wait until we can sit down and have a cocktail some time, out of hearing of the internet.

And now the news is saying that these grated cheese containers that are stored at room temp in the store, have a large percentage of wood content. Yum!

I read the news stories. None I read gave any information as to how the powder got to the ovaries. There must be more to the story.

Regarding Parmesan cheese, it contains cellulose as an anti-caking agent. It seems some manufacturers (those making house brands) were using a lot more of it than was necessary for that purpose.

Then I've had it...

I used to pour it into my track shoes and it felt like you were running on a cloud. I'm afraid my exposure has already passed the limit. I will promptly get checked for ovarian cancer.:p

Hey I lost my mom to Ovarian cancer in 1981.Yes she used talc. I read the article about the lawsuit it brought a tear to my eye.I even played with it as a youngster.Be gentle there may be others effected by this also. Dave

I'm going to die, I'm going to die!

I went to my Barber yesterday and he drowned a brush with Talcum Powder And brushed off my neck after he finished cutting my hair! And has done it for the last 20+ years. Does that mean I have neck cancer now?

I'll sue, I'll sue!

If you snort the stuff, from heavy breathing, is that bad for your health?
My one bathroom fan doesn't work anymore because of all the powder my g/f used after every bath. I told her cut down on the stuff on certain areas because I was tasting powered mud. Neither of us got cancer anyway.

It's not that we don't believe you, it's just that we are looking forward to conducting our own studies of your hypothesis.;)

the mineral that is used to make talcum powder is mined froom a strata that is just above the asbestos deposits... & every manufacturer of talc Powder.. also made asbestos products... some still do... there are legitimate uses of asbestos still... Quite often.. some of the wrong stuff got mixed/milled with the talc bearing layer..breathing it in causes asbestosis/cancer.. but you can ingest it orally.. or sexually if it is in a heavy application from a powder puff...

We talked about this during asbestos abatement classes back in the early 90's... I went home & threw away all the talc in our family bathrooms/bedrooms & warned everyone in our extended family about the risk... Use cologne/perfume/aftershave/... never the scented talc...

I have bad cancer stage 4... lung/liver... that is almost surely due to asbestos removal & HAZMAT abatement back in the 1970's with no gear... I run out of breath walking 20 feet to go to the bathroom.. my walking limit is the length of the airline on my oxygen generator... Back in the late 1990's... I was one of the strongest guys on our union job sites.. prided myself on being able to run with a 120 lbs over my shoulder.. & never run out of breath...

Here's how it works on HAZ & asbestos exposure... 1-5 guys out of (simplified) 100 are exposed for heavy concentrations for 30 yrs & never gets any occupational disease... another 30-40% work in the same conditions & get it 40 yrs later... 30-40% get it after 10-15 years... a small number get it after 5 years exposure & the last guy gets it after being exposed to it for only one time.. for 15 minutes & he gets cancer & or asbestosis in a short time...Do you feel lucky? The same is happening to the women in this study... & also.. so many people have lung damage that shows up on Xrays studies but with no known exposures to any occupational chemicals/substances.. it has long been thought that their mothers used the heck out of talc on them when they were babies/infants.

I'm not aware of Asbestos being a carcinogen for anything other than the lungs (Mesothelioma). And even then, it involves only one type of Asbestos. And no matter how it is used by a woman, I really have to wonder how it finds its way to the ovaries. Looks like I need to do some research, as I don't know anything about the basis for the lawsuit against J&J.

Well, I did look it up. First, there has been no asbestos content in Talc used for consumer purposes since the early 1970s. Second, it seems that there is no hard evidence at present to support a link between the use of talcum powder on Lady Parts (or anywhere else) and an increased incidence of ovarian cancer. It will be interesting to see how all this turns out.

lets do it again... the mineral used to make talcum powder is mined on the layer directly above asbestos... people are human & make mistakes...

Asbestos, mesothelioma & other cancers caused by asbestos can all be caued by any of the different forms of asbestos.. blue/brown/cream etc.. I'm not gong to print out the names.. no one would recognize them anyhow..

Amosite.. is one form that has been widely & heavily used for many , many decades... the tiny lil sharp, jagged spears that comprise this type of asbestos and all the other ones too, are as little as 1 micron thick or less... they work progressively deeper into organs/meat... with pressure (like sex), walking or even breathing even being enough...

The very scary thing is that for many many years after asbestos use was lessened...our insulators wore no respiratory gear when working with fiberglass insulation., because it was thought to be safe enough that gear wasn't needed.. now it is thought that our people will suffer the same terrible diseases from it as with the different forms of asbestos. The same type of small jagged/barbed tiny spears are found in the dust of fiberglass insulation.... ever feel itchy after you've insulated walls/floors/ceilings with fiberglass? The same stuff that is making you itch, is in your lungs/esophagus too....& if you do not wash up very well before you use the restroom... you can contaminate yourself too....
