Good movie about the guy who broke Hitler's Enigma Code. I think the movie dealt too much with the personal issues the main guy had rather than winning a world war. And as usual, history is manipulated for dramatic effect. But I liked it anyway. Then I found a documentary about how the code was cracked and it's just crazy how smart this guy Alan Turing and all the others were to figure this out. It's so much more complicating than depicted in the movie. The documentary on You-Tube is (Greatest mysteries of World War 2, Hitler's Enigma).
I thought I'd get in trouble putting a video related to that monster on here.

I was interested when the previews looked like it was primarily about Turing's efforts to break the Enigma machine during WW2. I then read a review that sounds like it primarily describes his persecution after the war. I guess I'm not into depressing movies any more, so I'm unsure of this one.

I have it,,,Started watching it but fell asleep:rolleyes: I"ll have to start over! :D

PBS has done a series called Bletchley Circle. It is about a small group of ladies who were code breakers during the war. After the war, they were soon bored and start using their skills to solve crimes. It is very well done.

Just watched as well. It was done by the Weinstein Group. You know, the guy who said he was going to destroy the NRA. if I'd known that in advance I would have passed.

Now I'm glad we used our free movie card at Redbox to watch it. And we saved a dollar! This movie has two themes going at the same time. Turing's life (if it was depicted correctly), and cracking the Enigma Code. I watched it because I like seeing real life mysteries solved and was more interested in the decoding part and thought it would be more about that. But then I got the whole story on that in the great almost two hour documentary I mentioned earlier. BYW, everyone. I only mentioned the movie because I liked it. Not to get into Turing's real life stuff which can get us shut down here for obvious reasons.

For the most part--it was a good movie and id own it on DvD. They dived into his after-war stuff a little but not too much. Its a harvey weinstein production.

BTW--the Turing actor--I think is staring in a new series about about Sherlock Holmes as the P.I.

The guy who played the Gov on: The Walking Dead--is in a new series playing Dr. Who.

I agree exactly with your synopsis.
