I was sad today to read that Yaphet Kotto
passed away yesterday at 81. His wife over
over 25 yrs announced his passing.
I dont care much for actors today. But he was
a prescence in every role I saw him play in movies and TV.
From one of the crooks in Steve McQueen's
The Thomas Crown Affair..to the role as Dr. Kananga the villian in the Bond film "Live and Let Die" ..to the crewman
in the first Aliens picture as the Strong smart
xxxguy fighting for survival with the rest of the
crew..
I respect him along with many actors that acted and didnt bother us with his views
on current events..just let his acting speak
for itself.
Rest in Piece Mr Kotto.

He certainly presented a commanding presence on the big scene. May he rest in peace.

Also liked him in Raid on Entebbe and Live and Let Die...almost as much as I liked Jane Seymour. :D

I agree too many of the great actors are slipping away and I am not too impressed with many of their successors.

RIP Yaphet.

In case anyone else didn't recognize the name, this was Yaphet:

I certainly recognize the face from countless TV series and movies. Godspeed.

OMG, as Lt. Al Giardello in Homicide, Life on the Street.
"There was a Wop in the wood-pile". LOL

"Homicide, Life on the Street" one of the best ensemble TV shows ever.

Munch
Pembleton
Bayliss
Meldrick
Kay
Crosetti
Falsone
Bolander
And of course Al, as their stoic and well loved leader.

Did they ever determine if it was the arraber that killed Adena Watson?

What a great show.

Who can forget?

He always had a strong presence on screen. Did great work, RIP.
