We Lost a Fine Actor.. Yaphet Kotto

Thanks for posting this notice; I had not seen it as yet. He had a great line as a gangster in "Badge 373": "Young man, there is nothing in life that can be reduced to a slogan." Food for thought, IMHO, in these fractious times.

As for Mr. Kotto, he co-starred with Anthony Quinn in "Across 110th Street," a gritty NYC-based crime drama that is strangely little mentioned. R.I.P. Gentlemen. You will be missed.

Yes he WAS Lt Al Giardello, I also remember him in Daniel Boone. There was just something about him that stood out. He is another one like Strother Martin lots of great roles and under appreciated.

Certainly delivered a commanding presence in his roles.

"Special Agent Alonzo Mosley", still brings a chuckle.

Agent Foster Grant!

Yaphet Kotto also played one of the best Bond villains. Unlike other villains, when he first met Bond, he gave no long speeches. He simply told his henchmen to "take this honky out and waste him". Of course Bond and the CIA foiled that plan, but it was unique for the series.

Mr. Kotto was also great in Alien and Homicide: Life on the Street as the lieutenant. I believe he carried either a Chief's Special or a Detective Special on Homicide; whichever it was it looked tiny in his hands!

He did a movie for HBO many tears back called "The Park is Mine." Tommy Lee Jones was the main character. Pretty good flick, if you like the concept of the NYPD hiring mercenaries.
