Knife attack at China train station leaves 27 dead

At least 27 are dead and 109 others were injured after a group of uniformed men with knives attacked people at the Kunming train station in southwestern China on Saturday, according to reports from official Xinhua News Agency .
According to the AP, a local news station said officers had shot several of the attackers.

Authorities have yet to identify the attackers. While a motive has not been named, state television has labeled the incident a "violent terror attack."

There have been multiple mass stabbings in China in recent years, with Saturday's attack being one of the deadliest.

It just goes to show you that a determined assailant can and will use any means possible. As we know the liberals excuse of gun control in the name of "safety" is a farce. I'm sure this China news will have a few of the do gooders drumming up something ridiculous.

Let's see, there are 7 billion in the world and 5 billion of them live in China. From 1959-1961 there were over 45 million Chinese that died from starvation. I'm surprised that 27 dead even made the news.

27 dead and 109 injured, Were they dang Samurai?!!!
Not unless the Japanese were invading.

This is why I tell people that knives are more dangerous than guns. It's easy for a group of organized guys to walk into a crowded station and start slashing and stabbing and cause a lot of damage.

When I'm on patrol, I'm more scared of people with blades than guns. For whatever reason, meth-heads seem to gravitate to blades. Every time we do a search warrant at a house for a meth lab, there are always an over abundance of knives, both folding and fixed. A determined assailant (or meth head) with a blade is a frightening prospect.

The wounds are usually visibly deceiving, being small on the outside but often the damage inside is immense. People involved in stabbings often report that they thought that they had simply been punched, until they saw the blood. Scary stuff...

I always wondered where those Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ended up, now I know.

Knife Control in Canada

About four years ago I was in Saskatoon on business. Canada essentially banned handguns, so the thugs now use knives. One day when I was there, the headline of the Saskatoon paper was that their Chief of Police was wanting to enact knife control to keep the thugs from getting machetes.

We're already there. A coworker's son, 9 years old, was walking home from the park with his bat and glove. A cop stopped him and questioned him about why he was carrying a weapon.

Long story short, his parents had to go pick him up at the police station.:eek:

What have we come to when a kid can't carry the implements of our national pastime without being hauled off to jail?

Do you guys remember in the recent past about the riots in England? There was looting and all kinds of other mayhem going on. Well, of course they have ultra strict gun control, so their means of defending themselves is limited to hand-to-hand and non-conventional weapons. During the time of the riots, they had a huge spike in sales for cricket bats. That became the weapon of choice during those times. How very sad that, when your live and property is in peril, that the only thing you have to rely on is essentially a wooden plank with a handle...

It is impossible not to admire the intelligent plan and action taken by the anti-gun crowd.
Since years they are keeping us gun owners and the pro-gun organizations busy with the subject of "gun control" while they are actually working on "gun culture control" much effectively.

I am receiving at least 2-3 emails everyday from a pro-gun group or organization or association mentioning "he is going to get your guns" or "she is going to get your guns".
Then of course asking for donations.

While all these pro-gun groups and organizations talking about "government taking our guns" actually government "took away" our gun culture!

Here's a few examples from the newspapers.

- A Columbus principal suspended a student for three days last week after the child pointed a "lookalike firearm" at another student in class and pretended to shoot.
The boy's age? 10.
The "level 2 lookalike firearm" cited in his suspension letter?
His finger.

- In 1999, an elementary principal pressed criminal charges against an 8-year-old boy who she said assaulted her by flailing, kicking and screaming during a temper tantrum. A juvenile court judge dismissed the charge, saying the boy was too young to have had "criminal intent."

- In 2000, a second-grader was suspended for two days at Huy Elementary School on the North Side for wielding a gun he had drawn on paper and cut out.

- In 2009, a 14-year-old Northland High School student faced a one-year expulsion after he fired a Nerf foam-dart gun at school. The district settled for a suspension instead.

- Another elementary school kid is suspended for bringing a rifle to the school. His rifle was 1,5 inch long and belong to his toy soldier!

Last year, when State Sen. Charleta Tavares, a Columbus Democrat introduced her bill, which would reserve suspensions and expulsions for only serious incidents. She has proposed legislation that would overturn a 1998 state law requiring schools to adopt zero-tolerance policies. Her plan would force schools to remove those policies and forbid them in the future because she said they lead to unfair punishments.

She highlighted the suspension of an 8-year-old Maryland boy who chewed a Pop-Tart into a gun shape this year. "A gun-shaped edible snack is not a weapon," Tavares said.

I ask again, which one of you guys and gals didn't play Cowboys and Indians when you were a kid?
Which one of us didn't play Cops and Robbers!
Who didn't use a cap gun or water pistol or even a stick to simulate a real gun and yelled "bang, bang you're dead!" to the friends during these games?

Those were our happy childhood days filled with fun and none of us became a psychopath mass murderer because of those games we happily played!

If we were a kid today and acted like that you'll be considered a criminal and punished while your friends you yelled at "bang, bang" will be sent to seek therapy!

On top of it, that evening the news on the TV will be talking about "how a tragedy prevented today by the swift actions of a brave teacher".

I am not aware if any of these pro-gun groups/organizations actually are doing something actively to change public opinion to stop this trend poisoning our culture, other than keep repeatedly sending us "he/she is going to get your guns" message!
Do they?

Those Military Style Assault Swords must be banned altogether!

I mean how many swords you need to kill a duck? Seriously?;)

I wonder if they can attach a technology like microstamping to those swords?
Maybe when you stabbed or cut by them they'll leave a mark like Zorro's "Z" so they can identify the owner of the sword...
:D

The attackers have since been identified as from Western China, and practice a major mid-eastern religion. BTW, after they instituted total gun control, England had a huge upswing in knives being used in the commission of crimes, in particular assaults and murder. Several years ago England instituted strict knife control and greatly restricted the kinds of knives that can be possessed, even in ones own kitchen. It hasn't helped much. A crude, but effective, knife is easy to manufacture.
