My 19 has a little blue wear on the top of the backstrap where the target hammer strikes it. If the revolver is fired in double action, the hammer never hits the metal, but if you cock it back in single action, you can pull it far enough back to hit the metal.

I called S&W and they said this was normal.

I was just wondering... why does this happen? I am wondering if it has something to do with the size of the target hammer on the K frame. I don't notice it on any of my N frames.

Some will and some seems like a quality control issue. On the same weapon, with the same properties, there sould be a uniform standard ( I would think/hope. ) If i"m thinking properly on some the metal or spring is too light too little, on others, too much overlap on metal or spring too tight. Just my thought but shoud'nt there be a standard. this is'nt 1907
