Weather Channel Sued - I Hope They Lose

The remote for my tv has the ability to change channels.
There are numerous internet sites with weather forecasts, live radar, etc.
Try them.

A great website, Weather Underground was left to rot on the vine when acquired by Weather Channel, IBM, et al.
Hyper local forecasts, great features of NEXRAD storm details and even accessing satellite info is gone with the wind.
Have yet to find any interweb site, including NWS with the sheer amount of helpful info once provided by WU.

I will let the jury decide the facts. I wouldn't be surprised if WAT is found culpable.

True that WAT has morphed from John Coleman's creation. Been sold a few times. The owners are looking for revenue. Seems that showing weather on the Weather Channel isn't as profitable as showing Wrecked Alaskan Trucks. Though they could be the Climate Catastrophe Channel.

I specifically bought a tv that doesn't pick-up the weather channel, nor basketball, nor the national news.... I've had to explain this phenomenon to several people.:)

I'm just spitballing here, but my guess is them two fellas are independent contractors, and TWC's liability is limited. I foresee policy limit settlements on their professional liability insurance and their vehicle insurance . . .

Best source for weather is the National Weather Service website. Go to the tabs that say Forecast Discussion and hourly forecast for detailed information. As an emergency manager as well as Public Safety Director for many years NWS was always my go to site for information. Rarely watch Weather Channel where every normal weather event is considered an emergency.

This is the part that our local CBS affiliate fails to recognize. Even a hint of severe weather, especially thunderstorms/tornadoes, and the local weather reader is breaking in to regular programming sweating, gesticulating, and histrionically ordering everyone in a 100 mile radius to find a helmet and head to the basement or inner room. He traditionally is supporting off camera by the other weather readers, who comment occasionally sounding tired and overworked.

Most recently, we had a tornado warning almost 100 miles north, in an area better covered by the CBS affiliate from St. Louis, which preempted the last ten minutes of the Duke NCAA March Madness game. Every time they do this, they lose a few more viewers, but to them, the mission of saving lives must continue.

Weather channel and network weather is so panic driven that it hurts the tourism biz here where I live. They’re usually wrong, particularly when hurricane season starts. If a low pressure system forms off the African coast, they seem to show a map with a line drawn directly to New Orleans and start re runs of Katrina or Harvey. Dire predictions of rising sea levels and end of the world fills in the rest of the time.
I use TerraFin, Windy T and Weather Nerd.

The meteorologist that started Weather Channel (John Coleman) took an open minded position regarding “man made” global warming after leaving the TWC, and now he’s regarded as a “denier” by the panic merchants, which isn’t surprising...he was from Texas, so he was deplorable.

The Weather Channel flat out ruined wunderground.com, which was the absolute best source for weather data, especially if you are aviation minded. Lots of us who were regular users protested the changes, but we were basically told to deal with it in no uncertain terms.

Sadly, now I have to go to multiple sources for all my weather info needs. The two that I use the most are darksky.net and the NWS, but none compare to the old.

I'll never watch the Weather Channel or their garbage programming ever again, nor use any of their online/app services.. yeah, I'm a little bitter over wunderground.

For me, things started going downhill at TWC when it was acquired by NBC. I no longer subscribe to TWC and don't miss it. I want weather, not reality shows or some panic driven talking head screaming about how bad things are or are going to get when many times, it turns out to be mostly hype. I get my weather from WeatherForYou.com and my local television channels. It works for me.

This is my go-to site for all things weather, especially during hurricane season:

Mike's Weather Page... powered by Sparks Energy!

HAVE A WINDOW?

LOOK OUT OF IT. I DO LIKE Doppler radar that shows the frequent fast moving small storm cells so common in fl. Those I find accurate. Hurricane coverage is a welcome heads up. The Normal 5 day forecast, not so much. Storm chasers??? I don't need to see an idiot standing outside in a hurricane, I'll take your word for it. EarlIER warning for tornadoes would be nice.
