This weekend I am aware of two shows that will be happening.
#1 is in Mitchell, Nebraska at the Bluff County Fairgrounds about 10 miles west of Scottsbluff, NE. This is sponsored by the local gun club and in the past had about 225 tables. Minimal fleamarket items and snake oil, but they do have some. When Deb and I did it the show was one of the best in the area. Great folks, good deals and lots of guns, more guns and associated items.
I will be giving a status report as I hear from my friends that are there.
#2 is in Dothan, Alabama at the Peanut Festival Fairgrounds, only the second event since it was closed last summer.
They are advertising about 225 tables. There is expected to be a goodly amount of Chinese Knives, snake oil, foo-foo and other non gun related items (jerky). But based on previous shows I expect to see lots of guns, gear and maybe a little bit of overpriced AMMO.
Wiregrassguy and Sasaberanger will be in attendance and set up somewhere in the building. I will find out when we arrive tomorrow.
Status reports will be first had from this one as I won't have to wait for information.
Everybody please stay safe and healthy.
Deb and I got our second Covid Shots today...the end is hopefully in sight.

Set Up was this afternoon. Lots of work since I haven't done much of anything for a whole year.
On a positive note I had three dealer sales withing fifteen minutes. Flipped a M6906, a rifle vise and a Kimber SIS Compact. Gross exceeded any previous AL show. No profit yet, but elbow room on the table. The kicker was that the guns had not even bee taken out of their rugs or cases. Also have a couple of guys panting on a couple of others on the table.
Saw a few items that were out, and will take a closer look-see tomorrow. We bailed out a couple of hours after getting there and grabbed a late lunch/early dinner at a newly discovered eatery on the back road to home. Home cooking, friendly staff and country setting.
It will get visited again.
More reports tomorrow.

Gun Show this week end at Mid America Center in Council Bluffs, IA. Don't waste your time. Went there yesterday afternoon/night. More knives, military surplus, and other shtuff than guns. Stupid prices on ammo and loading components(as expected) but nobody buying any. Some guns being moved, but no bargains for sure. It was the first gunshow I've been to in about a year and half. Nothing I didn't expect except that that less than half the space was taken up with guns.

Small show in Northern MN yesterday. In an old school building. Usually the parking lot is maybe half full. This time is was packed and the frontage road was lined with cars on both sides for several hundred feet.

Not a bad show for a small one. No guns I couldn't live without. Did not see a single vintage Smith & Wesson. I bought a bunch of old ivory shotgun beads still in the original packages for less than I would pay for one on ebay.

Missouri Gun and Knife is on this weekend at the Show Me Center on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO . . .

Opened at 9 am, got there about 9:30. $7 admission, free parking (no changes).

Center fire pistol ammo at least $1 round in bulk packages, $1.50 in smaller boxes. Rifle ammo $3 round in 20 round boxes, except .223/5.56, which has been steady at $1-$1.50 no matter the number of rounds. Pretty much every caliber available in factory boxes. Bought some MagTech .44 Special at $1 round.

This show always has plenty of S&W revolvers, but they’re always high, and today was no exception. If you were looking for a particular model, it was probably there in some form, but like I wrote, high. I like to use this to value my collection.

Lots of black rifles, all over $800. One full set tables of what seemed to be every rifle Palmetto State offered, all approaching or exceeding $1k. Plenty of wood and blued as well, but nothing that tripped my trigger. Magazine fed shotguns are popular, probably a couple dozen spread across the show floor.

Bought a KelTec CMR30 at what they’re going for on GunBroker, without the wait, potential sales tax, and transfer fee. I’ve got a PMR30, and the carbines have been scarce for a year around here.

Three or four tables selling gun or ammo raffle tickets. Marines, Honor Flight, and local political party County organization. Scents, fancy ink pens, jerky, and cooking accessories occupied half a dozen tables. In all fairness, the jerky is really good, locally made.

Good crowd, probably ten fewer tables than normal. The steel target guy wasn’t there, and a carnival knife guy who usually has three or four tables hasn’t been at the last three shows in the area, wondering if he gave it up or died. I’m sure he’s been struggling for a year with the cancellation of all the fairs and picnics. They would have accounted for the missing pod of tables.

Good day, as far as I’m concerned . . .

I've been hankering to go to a gun show - not to buy anything - just to be amused by the prices.

Just looked them up today. Cancelled, cancelled, cancelled. The next one schedules is in 2022.

Surprising that they are difficult to find there. Almost every gun shop in the local area has had them in stock lately. However, that may be because their factory is less than 60 miles up the road from here. The PMR 30's were difficult to find for a while, because they were hot sellers.

Saturday in Dothan

Best crowd I have seen at one of the local shows.
They were buying ammo...even at the idiotic prices. .223 @ $900 per 900 round case. 12 ga field load @ $50 per box of 25. And So On and so Forth.
Didn't eyeball new hand gun prices but noticed low end ARs in the $1399 and up range. No idea what a good one would be.
Used quality handguns are sky high. And if you find one you can afford you would be ashamed to show it in public.
I finished the day in the black thanks to some odds and ends sales. Table mate sold two in quick succession like I did yesterday.
By the time the doors closed today the only money I spent was on Girl Scout Cookies and food. Did not see a thing the screamed out "Pick Me".
Wrap up tomorrow.
Just heard that Mitchell, NE was a boomer. Buddy Steve did $4200 and is about out of everything he brought.

You're probably on to something. I've only seen a couple of the CMR 30's around here, never at shows, only at LGS's. I've had the PMR for a couple years, and they're also scarce in these parts . . .

RE: Dothan Wrap Up

The Sunday crowd was nothing like yesterday, but traffic was steady and they were spending. Ammo prices didn't come down over night, nor did most gun prices.
Some how I missed a 1952 K 38 in the back corner.
I had honest wear and showed some signs of use, but there was no abuse evident. I checked the bottom of the grips and nobody used it to drive nails or fence staples like the Cowboys did in WY and MT. (No hammer, no problem). This piece went for the princely sum of $399. Tried to give the buyer an opportunity to turn a profit, but hw wasn't interested.
I managed to find a Model 10-5, 4" blue square butt with PC grips for $500 and a .380 body guard package for $400. It came with the entire laser package, box. docs, case and extra mag. Haven't checked GB for current prices on either, but feel that I am safe.
As it turned out it was the best Dothan Show that we have attended or done since we arrived in 2019. Not up to WY standards but shows possibilities and promise.
Everybody stay healthy and safe.
