Hello Fellow Reloaders:

I basically load only target loads in 38, 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP. Most reloaders prefer faster burning powders for this purpose.

My question is which powder do you use for target loads, that actually fill a case pretty good ( have a larger volume).
So far, I have found Red Dot fills my 9mm cases almost to compressed levels, but, Red Dot gives a very small margin of error. Any one using something that meters well, fills a case well, and is particularly good for target loads?

It seems that the perfect powder for you hasn't been made yet!

Bullseye, Titegroup, AA#2 and a whole lot of other good target type powders meter well and are consistent but none of them are particularly good at case fill!

Unique, SR4756, 800x and others either don't work well at that pressure or are hard to meter.

I have never used 700x but it may be better than most as it's a flake with a hole in it, not sure though. Maybe someone else will chime in here to give you a hand that has used it.

One thing for sure though, I have used some mighty good powders in all of those cartridges with good success. With the 40 thrown in there, for sure, one size isn't going to fit all. ;)

The powder that you use should be dictated by your gun and the results obtained from testing, not by some secret formula. Trying different powders, primers, bullets and cases until you find that one magic load is but one of the great benefits of reloading.....
