Went and shot this AM. Freshly reamed chambers on the S&W 17 worked great. No pics but 3.5" group @ 25yds for 24 rounds Red box Tac. The black box doesn't shoot quite as tight but it shoots better in the 40X and Anshutz. That's good because I have 2 cases of each and a very decent use for each. Still have a couple of cases of SK the Marvel conversion favors, shoots slightly better than the Tac(s) in the rifles too.
Shot 60 rounds .38 out of the Model 14. New glasses (+1.75 readers) and I'm seeing the front sight a lot better and it showed on the target today. 24 rounds in a 4" group, 150gr Lyman BBWC, 2.9gr MP77 started by Magtech SPP. I've a H&G 145gr that shoots as tight and loads in the cylinders a lot easier though. Consistency wise, I'm thinking the Lee 105 outshoots all of them.
Shot a 4" group 50yd with the Taurus 608 24 rounds but it has a green dot on top, Lee 105gr BLL 3.5gr MP77. Arsenal 150gr SWC, can't get it to group though it looks like a twin to the H&G 145. 2 16 shot 4" groups with the MP 358429 @ 50yds. Can't help but think that would be a little smaller if it wasn't shedding the GC on the way to the target.
8" group @ 50yds with the Model 17 again, all double action shooting Federal fodder from a former fellow shooters estate, passed to me by his widow. 1/2 gallon plastic jug full she gave me, probably well over 10 yrs old. At least 1 misfire or hangfire in every cylinder but I learn from those so it's good.
Very nice day overall, battery in my fan gave out about the same time I did.
Brass in the tumbler now.
