This weekend our nation will celebrate "Welcome Home Viet Nam Veterans Day". It marks the 39th anniversary of the final withdrawal of all US troops from Viet Nam. I would like to welcome all of my brothers home, and remember all whose names are on The Wall, and those who are still listed as MIA. You are NOT forgotten. For many Viet Nam veterans the war continues. God bless us all....http://www.myveteran.org/2012/02/welcome-home-veterans.html

If I express my anger at what happened to our boys, and what was foisted upon the good people of South Viet Nam by our politicians, I will no doubt be banned from this fine forum. Suffice it to say that I honor our men and their great sacrifice for our country. I will not, however, commemorate our withdrawl. I will not celebrate the acts of cowardly politicians. Much of my anger no doubt stems from my understanding now of how badly we all were lied to, and of the complicity to that lie of the people who were supposed to look out for the good of our country, the then trusted 4th estate.

God bless our fighting men and women, from all wars both then and now.

You will never be forgotten and will always be remembered....with honor and gratitude.

Cheers;
Lefty

Politics aside. Of all of us who were there and made it back, half are deceased.
Scary!
To all my Brothers in arms, Welcome home! To my Sisters
who treated us wounded, Thank You!
For the MIA may God grant you peace.
For the deserters, rot in hell.

Welcome back to all who put on their country's uniform!
A lot of us who played that game joined up because we thought it
was our duty. That's why there was a bumper-sticker that said,
"We Were Always Right".
"War is diplomacy by other means" hadn't crossed my radar
back then. TACC1

God bless all of you vietnam vets. I am the proud grandson of First Sergeant T.S. Nye of the 11th ACR two time purple heart recipient durring his tour in 66-67. he was a tank commander and the pain of vietnam never left him, he recieved mulitple amputations to his leg in the late 90's from wounds recieved, they finally stopped just above his knee. "Opa" as I knew him PCS'd to the big man in the sky 3 years ago come june. He was by far the best man I have ever known.

PVT JOSEPH MICHAEL YOUNGERMAN

Joseph Michael Youngerman was born July 9, 1948 and his home of record was Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from Meadowdale High School in 1966 and enlisted in the US Army in 1967. He served a tour in Vietnam with the 3rd Battalion, 506th Infantry (Currahees), 101st Airborne in 1968-69. After returning home, he re-enlisted in the Army and began another tour in Vietnam in February 1971, this time with the 173rd Airborne. He was killed in action on April 2, 1971.

I served with Joe in the 101st in 68-69. I was his squad leader.
He came home from his first tour and was sick at heart at how he and other Vietnam Veterans were treated by the American Citizen. He reenlisted and vowed to spend the rest of his life in Vietnam. He did.

For some, the thanks for their Service in Vietnam come way too late.

Gone to the second page after a day. Local Rag had nothing in it.

Guess we might have been right. But nobody cares except those effected.

Not true, I barely remember the war, but I care. I have older friends who were there. Patriots and those who have stood in harm's way have a bond that ties us together beyond age or time. JMO.
