I have been screwing with trying to get this thing installed. I have had them send me another trigger. Was able to get the pin moving in a vise but it went to far after it popped and now the trigger bar won't fit. Tried to pound it back out a bit and have only bent my punch.
I am done with this! There is absolutely no need for a pin to be this tight.
I may try the poly set at least I know plastic will give a little. Or I may go back to stock and say screw it!

Not sure what the problem with the aluminum trigger is, I know a number of people have installed it. I went with the poly trigger and it was easy (like you said, the plastic probably has more "give"). I'm wondering if they changed the alloy in the trigger and the pin is "galling", I've run into that with other machined parts and once something galls, it's like it's welded into place. Ask Apex if they'll send you a poly trigger (and refund the difference). I don't think they want the negative comments. Worth a try. The trigger is definitely worth it.

At this point I am not sure if I want to mess with a FSS kit or just get one of the kits that does not replace the trigger.
At this point I am so angry I want to say screw it all. I need to calm down a bit before deciding.

Sorry about all the issues your having, but if you decide to go with the POLY FSS you won't be disappointed.

Thanks Steve.,
I notice you live in Greer SC. My oldest son used to live there. He in now married and lives in Greenville.

I had the same issue with the apex install on my 45c. The pin in the aluminum trigger would not line up with the hole in the trigger bar. I feel your frustration! I called apex and they sent me another trigger. It worked and the pin slid right in. I would contact apex again and have them send one more to try. You will not regret it once you get it in right. It is AWESOME after the install!

I had a very similar experience when installing the AEK Trigger on my Shield. I had to enlist the help of another person. While I held the trigger bar lined up with the pin hole, he used a 4oz brass hammer which he struck with an 8oz brass hammer to drive it home. It was a beast though. Don't give up.

I bought it from Midway USA. I am going to call them Mon. and see if they will exchange it for the Poly kit. I have heard from quite a few folks it is much easier to install. In the meantime I have put my M&P back together in it's origional condition.

I can only speak from my experience with the aluminum trigger. I havent tried the poly one, but I wouldnt go back after having the aluminum. Just my $0.02. Keep the aluminum.

Yes, it is hard to get the pin started, but once I got it going I had no trouble. One thing I noticed is that the hole in the trigger bar needs to be exactly in the right spot. If it's not, the pin will sandwich the trigger bar in there and it will be hard to get it in the right spot.

This makes things a lot easier:

Oh I tried that. Like I said this is my second trigger from Apex. The first would not budge even in a vise. The second I soaked in penetrating oil overnight, I tried with a punch first it would not budge. So I put it in the vise and it did move but I didn't get the trigger bar lined up and the pin went in to far. So I tried to bang it back out and bent the piss out of my punch.
There is absolutely no reason for these pins to be this tight.
I will try the poly trigger. It has to go in better. The poly will give some.

I got my aluminum trigger put in last evening. Fortunately for me the lgs I bought my 45c from and the apex trigger volunteered to pop it in for me. I had read this posting prior so I was happy to take him up on his offer. It took half an 30 or 45 minutes and two of them but I love the results. They did say they would never do that again for free....lol.

To be honest, once you start getting frustrated with it, best to walk away, and try it again later. You'll probably find the second/third time round, it works like a charm.

I have done both the polymer and aluminum Apex triggers. On 3 of our M&P's we have the polymer triggers, no problems. The husband wanted the Aluminum trigger for his Pro. What a pain in the butt!!! Like what has been stated above, the pin would not move. I put oil on it and let it soak in. I then did as Apex suggested and used a vise. The first attempt at using the vise, it did not move. On the second attempt, it did move, but the trigger bar was not lined up perfectly and it was bending trigger bar. I tried to back out the pin, no luck. I knew when I was beaten and I called my gunsmith. He did get the pin backed out and got everything together the was it was supposed to be. I had him just finish the install of the FSS kit (I had already done the Sear block part, easy). He said that it was a pain. He really fought with it. We got it all put back together with the FSS kit in and the husband is happy, so I guess that is what is important. I think I will stay with the polymer triggers..

Well apparently this is an issue with the aluminum triggers. Apex has to know about it.
I understand them not wanting the pin to walk out but good grief! This is simply ridiculous!
